Advantages: Final finish of the floor great and no problem with the varnish it's self
Disadvantages: supplied applicator is a piece of junk

Ronseal perfect finish diamond hard floor varnish –Totally flawed - What it fails to say on the tin is what an absolute piece of crap the supplied applicator is. How in the world are you meant to get a perfect finish when the handle drops apart all the time. You pay top wack and in return your supplied with total tat, that totally undermines the actual product. Amazed that Ronseal puts their name to this piece of s**t. Ended up on hands and knees ...

Garden Bliss

Advantages: Durable, allows natural grain to show through
Disadvantages: May need to be reapplied every 7 years or so.

Review of Sikkens Cetol Marine Teak Varnish

shine like a star

Advantages: great protection
Disadvantages: a bit runny

i have used the clear of this after paint and graining my doors and furniture to protect the paint, stop it chipping, make it shine and cleanable. I have used the beach of this to do my hall after stripping it back to natural wood. This varnish is fantastic, the concistency is like water so can be a bit messy to aply, it drys in about 45 minutes so you dont have to waite long to apply the second coat as two coats are required, it drys hard like ...
...shine to it, it protects your wood from moisture aswell as dirt, it makes it easy to clean as a quick wipe over with a damp cloth will remove any marks and makes it shine beautifully, dont worry about it loosing its shine as a quick polish once a month will keep it gleaning like new. ...

Knotting Hill? .

Advantages: Quick drying, very good sealer.
Disadvantages: Price.

...is made by the famous Dulux company, Part of ICI it is a very well known firm, whose good reputation speaks for itself. Dulux do have a website :- www.dulux.co.uk I am not sure it is relative for knotting, but it does have some good features like a paint calculator and a colour co-ordinator. Review of Dulux Knotting Solution

Easier to admire than it was to Apply

Advantages: Keeps a strong colour
Disadvantages: Didn't take very well initially and had to use several coats

With most of the solution I chose to brush it onto the woodwork, as I was mainly putting it onto a bench and some trellis. It was temperamental in the sense that in some wood it absorbed quite a lot where as other areas it temporarily sat on the wood before it settled. It was difficult to mix the surface oil back into the solution, once it had gathered on top during storage too. It took quite a while. Some of it was a little lumpy in places without ...
...I thought before I opened it I was expecting to only need to apply one coat, but some areas I needed 2 or 3 in the end, so it took me longer than I had hoped. The colour however was rich and even and now it has been on a while it doesnt look any different, especailly on my shed, to the day I first did it.
