Being a soft and gentle soul(!), I become very irritated by dry and itchy skin, particularly at this time of year, when my hands are prone to dryness and cracking. I suffered with mild eczema on my hands as a child and it can flare up if I do not moisturise my hands when they start to feel dry. I tend to react quite badly to fragranced hand creams and sometimes find eczema creams too greasy now. Thankfully, I started to use Vaseline Dermacare Dermatological Lotion a couple of years ago and have found it to give excellent, and immediate, relief to dry and itchy skin.
The lotion
The lotion contains natural lipids and, mainly, aqua and glycerine, and is designed to be used on dry, chapped and cracked skin to help relieve the itchiness and soreness. According to the tube it "nourishes and protects", helping the skin to "heal itself". I'm no expert on the list of other ingredients in the lotion, but it is certainly very calming and soothing when used, so the balance seems to be right. The lotion is hypoallergenic and fragrance free, so is capable of being used by a wide cross section of people who react well to general creams.
The lotion is pure white in colour and is perfectly smooth in texture. It has a good, general, "medium" consistency, meaning that it is neither too thick to dispense or rub in, nor too runny that it disappears before you have had chance to rub it in!! Once squeezed from the tube it remains in a "ball" shape on the palm of the hand so can be easily distributed from there.
Once on the skin, the lotion rubs in extremely well and quickly, but does not leave any residue, greasiness or stickiness. My hands feel moisturised but not at all greasy, as they can do with other, thicker, creams.
Usage
Whilst I only tend to use Vaseline Dermacare on my hands, it can be used all over the body and should be used, liberally, 2 to 3 times a day, to help clear the affected area. I use it twice a day, morning and night, when my hands are dry, using a small ball of lotion about a centimetre in diameter to cover both of my hands well.
Once rubbed in, the lotion has an immediate smoothing and cooling effect, removing any itchiness and soreness very quickly. Any visible cracking is smoothed away and my hands feel calmer and less irritable straight away.
Longer term effects
The dryness on my hands is fairly minor, so after a couple of day's usage any cracking and dryness has gone and my hands feel smooth and supple again. Whilst I do not use this, or any other lotion, as a daily moisturiser, its lightness and ease of use means that it could be used daily as a preventative measure.
At the end of last summer, for no apparent reason, I suffered with very sore and cracked skin on my elbows (probably "Accountant's Elbow" caused by leaning on a desk all day!!). I immediately reached for my tube of Dermacare and despite the soreness being quite bad in a concentrated area, and the cracking being rather deep, the lotion removed the symptoms in about 4 days. This was the worst "outbreak" that I've ever used this lotion for and was extremely pleased, and relieved, at the results. Thankfully, because of the lightness and speed of absorption of the cream, it left no marks or residue on the elbows of my shirts, so it is very clean too!!
Packaging and Price
Vaseline Dermacare is available at most supermarkets and chemists in various sizes. The 400ml and 200ml sizes come in white bottles, approximately 8 inches and 6 inches tall respectively, and a couple of inches wide. These both come with a blue flip lid, which clicks open and closed very easily, so one handed operation is very possible. The lotion is dispensed through a single hole nozzle, and the bottles only have to be lightly squeezed to successfully dispense the required amount of lotion.
However, I find these bottles quite heavy and cumbersome at times, so tend to buy the handy 75ml tube. Obviously, this suits me as I use it infrequently, so do not need to "stock up", but the tube is very convenient, as it is around 5 inches long and an inch or so in diameter, and easily, and discreetly, slotted into a jacket pocket or briefcase. This size is a softer, "squeeze" tube, with the same blue lid and nozzle as the larger sizes. Whilst remnants of dispensed lotion can become trapped in the nozzle and lid, the lotion does not dry out, so does not clog the lid. The lid is also fitted with a small "spear" to help keep the nozzle clear, when it is clicked closed.
In terms of price, the lotion retails at just over £1.10 per 100ml, with there being a slight price advantage to buying the larger sizes (400ml at £4.30). The blue "Vaseline Intensive Care" logo is very prominent at the top of the front panel, so it is easily spotted on the shelf.
I thoroughly recommend Vaseline Dermacare to anyone with sore, dry or itchy skin as it gives immediate relief and clears up the problem area in a matter of days.

Vaseline Intensive Care Dermacare
Dermatological Lotion
I’ve tried many creams/lotions for the dry skin on my feet and then I came across this in my local supermarket.
I have tried the hand cream and found that very good so I thought, “might as well give it a go”
It comes in a white plastic bottle with a blue flip top lid, though it states it's a lotion it is not runny as some lotions can be, actually I found it just right!
Healthy skin contains ... ...less of these lipids. This states, “It locks in moisture, soothes and protects dry and sensitive skin”. It is Hypo-Allergenic, so is suitable for sensitive skin, contains Natural Lipids and is Fragrance Free so there’s no problem with wearing deodorants, perfumes etc.
Derma-Care formula with natural lipids not only nourishes and protects the skin but also penetrates the skin where dryness starts, allowing the skin to repair itself from with-in.

...relieves your skin from itchiness, Vaseline Dermacare dermatological lotion could be the answer. My skin suffers from mild eczema and it sometimes flares up badly during the night when it gets too warm, especially around my legs. It has a thick but not too rich consistency and it says unperfumed but if you apply a lot of it, it has a very very light scent. MY OP...
I recieved an A3 Superdrug leaflet through my door the other day and couldn't resist looking at the latest offers. After noticing bottles of CK ONE and CK BE on offer, I saw a product I'd never noticed before. Now many of you may no that my lips live off vaseline, I love the stuff, it works, it's cheap and it's handy but I've never used any other Vaseline product before in my life!
I noticed a body lotion from the 'VaselineIntensiveCare' range. It looked interesting and was on offer for only £1.86! The bottle was 200ml in size and a greeny / turquoise colour. The bottle was Aloe Vera And Cucumber! ~ Interestuing huh!?

Advantages: Leaves my hands feeling lovely and soft Disadvantages: Not for men, uninteresting fragrance, occasionally irritated my skin
Winter usually means you have the central heating on which can result in skin problems unless you are taking good care of it. My hands get quite dry and cracked as I spend a lot of time with them in water and use a lot of cleaning products. I used to just use whichever body lotion I had at the time to moisturise my hands as well, but found that this didn't always do a very good job.
One day when I was doing my weekly shop I decided to have a look at hand creams. I was drawn to the product I am reviewing because it was dual purpose, meaning that not only were my hands going to be lovely and soft, it was going to strengthen my nails as well.
I am reviewing the 75ml tube of VaselineIntensiveCare Hand & Nail Lotion. It is also available in a 200ml bottle.
