I used to use Boots intensive lotion for skin as I do suffer from dry skin (I probably don't drink enough - may be an easy solution for you dry skinned people out there - drink more) anyway I had to do something about it as it could pose as embarassing a problem as having dandruff (no I don't use head and shoulders as well). Anyway, being a student at the time
I went straight for the boots own brand and they even had different varieties (dry, extra dry etc). This was fine for quite a while until one day I needed to buy some cream and the pharmacist I went into didn't have any boots homebrand so I plumped for vaseline intensive care instead, and ever since my life has been happy and full of sunshine (well not quite but here's what happened).
I noticed sometimes when using the Boots own brand that my skin would be a little clammy after using it (I used to use it on my face too, maybe that's why) and I also swapped between the dry and extra dry version as I was somewhere inbetween (probably moderately dry would have worked okay). But these problems disappeared when I used Vaseline Intensive Care Hand and Body Lotion (yes I am getting paid by them to do this - not really) no longer did my skin feel clammy and instead my skin felt refreshed and supple and their dry skin formula obviously works for all types of dry skin including mine. The label says, I quote - It is easily absorbed without feeling greasy and is ideal for use all over the body. This is true, me and even my face can vouch for this - it really can be used all over.
Their are two major benefits for men using this product I have discovered (apart from curing dry skin problems)
1) It is absolutely brilliant to put on after a shave. Like me you may easily get razor burns (probably the own brand blades I use), but once you have shaved, just gently massage in some Vaseline intensive care hand and body lotion for dry skin and the soreness evaporates and the redness diminishes, it is very refreshing.
2) I didn't realise this, but I had the same effect with the boots lotion, I would go anywhere and people would say to me, 'have you been on holiday ?', 'no, I would reply' I was a student after all. It's amazing, instant suntan. All of us men even if we don't care too much about beauty products would be quite happy to look tanned, wouldn't we, even if it just gives us more chances to wear our stupid looking shades whilst driving the car. It really works, so many people think I am tanned. (or as the label says - leaving skin feeling soft and smooth and looking healthy).
To your amazement, I have even gone onto the boots website and checked out prices, here goes from the cheapest to the most expensive.
Revlon dry skin relief original - 73.8p / 100ml Vaseline intensive care - 81.3p / 100ml Ponds rich moisturising body lotion - 94.8p / 100ml PH5.5 body lotion dry skin - £1.04 / 100ml Boots intensive lotion for dry skin - £1.15 / 100ml Nivea extra rich moisturising lotion - £1.24 / 100ml E45 skin confidence body lotion - £1.32 / 100ml
As you can see vaseline is no.2, revlon is one pound cheaper than normal at the moment so I think this is just a promotion. Even boots own brand is more expensive, wow to think all of those years of using a more expensive, inferior product to Vaseline Intensive Care dry skin hand and body lotion.
Closing comments - after smelling my hands with cream on for two minutes I can tell you that it doesn't really smell of anything (maybe a little vanilla or maybe that's my imagination as I like vanilla and custard especially), but being a guy that is a bonus, I do not want to smell of elderflower. The cream comes in a groovy yellow bottle (I like yellow, and custard). I endorse this product and give it two big moisturised thumbs up as my face radiates sunshine.
Hurray for vaseline intensive care.
