"It Has SOOOOOO Many Uses"

Okay I can sense a few raised eyebrows and smirks. Hey I didn't realise that you'd take it like that.

Vaseline is petroleum jelly. It is basically an emollient and is fantastic for chapped skin. I personally think that it tasts bloody awful and wouldn't put in on my lips as it feels too greasy.
I find it's a godsend on dry hands and feet. Try massaging onto skin before going to sleep, put on some cotton socks/gloves and wake up to find lovely soft hands/feet. Something I really need after putting my hands through hell using bleach, inks, paints and latex often in my work.

Vaseline contains no fragrance, colours, or any potentially irritating additives which is a bonus for sensitive skin.
Remember that Vaseline is NOT a moisturiser for the face. It will block pores and aggravate the skin making spots worse.

Vaseline and its uses
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*~ Protects skin from wind burn
*~ Natural way to shape eyebrows, smooth a tiny amount onto fingers then onto the eyebrows. I then use a eyebrow comb to shape.
*~ Eyelash conditioner. I've personally not used it like this but many swear by it.
*~ Creaky hinges? No problem slip some of this stuff on the hinges and it will be gone.
*~ Dry elbows/knees? Yep this stuff works for that too. JUST REMEMBER A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY!
*~ Emergency hairgel! LOL this is not a conventional use by far. I have extremely dry hair at times and Vaseline actually helped calm it down.
Note that this was just a few layers around my face NOT all of my hair!
*~ The Vaseline website claims that when used regularly, Vaseline reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This is one I'm not too sure about.
*~ Make-up remover. A very cheap and effective way to remove make-up. Best for stubborn eye make-up as it eliminates the need to scrub the gentle eye area. Just massage gently into skin and wipe off with cotton wool, it works!
*~ DIY make-up! Just mix Vaseline with an eyeshadow and you have an original lip gloss. Just avoid blues and greens ;-)
You can also create your own body glitters by adding your chosen glitters to Vaseline, brilliant!
I like to put a little gold or silver eyeshadow with the glitter to give it a subtle sheen.
*~ I’m reliably informed that Vaseline is a good anti-blister product too. All you do is coat your feet before running/exercising.
*~ Shoe-shine! If you run out of shoe polish, don’t worry as Vaseline will work just as adequately. You’ll end up with nice shiny shoes when you’re done.
How NOT to use Vaseline
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

*~ Oo-er. I must point out that Vaseline is NOT suitable for use as a lubricant. It can make the condom wear away making it useless. KY Jelly is a much better replacement. BE WARNED.

*~ Vaseline isn't suitable for nappy rash as it blocks pores. There are special creams for this. Vaseline tends to make the problem worse.

There are some myths surrounding Vaseline and I should get rid of them. First of all, it does not give you a hairy lip. Vaseline doesn't effect the rate of hairgrowth and I don't know anyone who uses it on their upper lip anyhow. It also therefore doesn't make your eyelashes grow longer. Sorry.

All in all Vaseline is an extremely versatile product and an important item for me to take away to University. A 100g pot will last me a few years so it is excellent value for money.

    Also good for dog tics - The vet wanted £30+ for consultation and to remove our dog tick - friend suggested covering it in vaseline so it couldn't breath and it dies and drops off! £30 saved! Gotta love Vaseline! xxx

    HAHAHA you've just spoilt the myth that it should be used as a lubricant. LOL I'm still chuckling! Mils xx

    Some good ideas there , but I just wish they would update the packaging . Until then I'm sticking to my Liz Earle Superbalm Jane xx
