I've been drumming for about ten years now, and boy! are my arms tired. Sorry, always wanted to use that.
Anyway, the guitarist in my band won a big handful of Vater Powerhouse sticks in a competition and gave them, sensibly, to me. The band is a bit of a mixture, and I have used the sticks in rock, doublebass metal, blues, and even some peculiar Irish acoustic work, all to good effect.
From the outset, I was impressed with the straightness of the stick, and the even-ness (evenitude?) of the grain and weight. I had previously played with Cs, 5Bs, and even 7Bs for one head-slapping moment. Generally, the sticks have lasted very well and played extremely predictably on kit.
Even untipped, a nice /ping/ is produced on a ride, and cymbal work is good. I found them a bit on the long side for my setup, but if you have a more extensive kit, this could well be an advantage. Durability is good, and most importantly, they have a good aerodynamic approach when thrown through the air to the baying audience. "Scream for meeee..."
