...go go go. Vauxhall seems to have done a great job on the chassis (probably with Lotus' help) as the car is very stable and corners with ease with hardly any body roll and has really responsive steering. Overall the cars looks are spot on as on the outside the lines are pleasing to the eye as I had the luck to be following another coupe today I couldn't stop marvelling at how nice the back end looks (I don't get to see it when I'm driving). Inside ......Elsewhere, there is a leather steering wheel and an upgraded centre console with gunmetal inserts. One touch of the styling that I like is when you look out of the window at the mirror the bottom half is black, which matches the door trim, and the top half of the mirror surround is red which matches the windscreen pillar so you get the impression of the mirrors being a continuation of the car not just something added on for safety reasons. Advantages: Value for money, performance is great, economical in fuel, tax and insurance Disadvantages: Not for the image conscious
I recently bought this car and it is certainly a winner in my view. I previously owned a VW Golf, 1.9 TDI, and was tempted to by another one because it was a good motor. I was recomended an Astra and thought I may as well test drive it, what harm was there. I booked a drive and was instantly impressed. I not only found that this car handled just as well as the golf but also matched its performance (in terms of handling and response). I recently changed ......budget I knew that if I was to buy another Golf it would be older and I just wanted the reliability of a warranty. Just something to stop me worrying should something go wrong. The Astra Design has the added benefit is more luxurious than the standard spec Golf, or equivalent class of vehicle. The design comes with half leather, sports chassis, full electric windows, light sensitive rear view mirror and headlights. I would, without any doubt say ... Read review

...They depreciate quickly in typical Vauxhall style, but get one 6 months old and you'll probably save £6k. Problems I've had, only a couple of easy to cure rattles, plus a new set of front tyres plus standard servicing. The only thing i'm wary of is the 20k miles service intervals. Sounds a bit long to me on a petrol turbo. I change the oil every 6 months which makes a big difference to engine smoothness. Great car, highly recommended. ... Read review
Advantages: Looks, performance, comfort Disadvantages: none
Purchased a '99T Astra CD 1.8 16v as my second ever car and I am very impressed. Used to have a Rover 214. Mine is in dark blue and has the Irmscher spoiler and alloy wheels. Looks are excellent espesially with the Irmscher 17" wheels, makes the car look wider and more ballanced. Dark metalic blue looks great but needs to be kept clean!! Black trim is starting to fade (a problem with all Vauxhalls) but is easily sorted with some back-to-black. Interior ......to reach whilst driving. Mine has the wood effect dash and gearknob. Could do with having better seats, (maybe the "sports" seats from the sxi or sri models) especially on long journeys, but overall it is comfortable. Build quality seems good, mine is approaching 5 years old and has no major marks or rattles. Interior light is turned on buy pulling headlight switch out towards you, which is a bit strange and I didnt realise this for ages after buying ... Read review

The Car *Purchased 2nd Hand *2004 54 registration *1.8i Club Automatic *5 Door hatchback My Situation The car was purchased from BCA last October as an Ex-Motabilty car with only 4000 miles on the clock! Cost to us was about £6500 Looks I must admit, the semi-new shape (they've released newer now!) Astras are quite sexy looking. I have mine in midnight blue and I think this is a great colour for the car. 16" Alloys are standard ......So far I cannot pick any faults with the actual build quality of the car. No rattling, all doors, glove box etc... hinges are smooth and don't feel like inferior quality. Obviously as a Vauxhall, the interior will still feel a bit 'plasticy' but it doesn't look that bad and the 3 Spoke steering wheel looks very sporty. Ride Comfort The Bad Here's the problem, it's not actually that comfortable to drive. It's smooth-ish but the seats ... Read review
