The Model of Car that I have recently purchased is a 02 reg MK4 5 door 1.6i 16V Club Hatchback. It has a max Torque of 100 BHP and is a Multi Point Fuel injected Car with a ECOTEC engine under the bonnet. The Vauxhall Astra runs very smoothly and you can’t even hear the engine running. Since I’ve only had this car for a week then I can only tell you my experiences and they are all good so far.
The Features for this car include:

- Air-Conditioning
- Driver’s and Front Passenger’s airbags
- Front Seat Head Restraints
- Front Seatbelt force limiters and body-lock pretensioners
- Two Rear Seat Head restraints
- Power Steering
- Steering Column Adjustable for Reach and Rake
- Driver’s Seat Height Adjuster
- Remote Control Central Deadlocking
- Cassette Player/ Stereo
- Steering Wheel Mounted Audio Controls
- Rear Reading Lights
- Rear Seat centre Armrest
- Alloy Wheels (15 inch)
- Electric Windows
- Rear window Wash/Wipe

There were Extra Options of a Navigation System but I didn’t take that option.

The performance of the car is not brilliant but not bad either. Since my last car was a Peugeot 205 Gti there was a lot to live up to and obviously not as quick. But its not bad. The Maximum Speed is 117 Miles an hour with a 0-60 time of 10.5 Seconds. The Fuel economy is a lot better then the PUG at around 40 Miles to the Gallon. A bonus for me was the Insurance the beauty of this car is that its in group 5 which is very low for a 1.6 16V car.

*Key Functions*

It has Key-Operated remote control central locking and an immobiliser built into the Key, so only that Key is going to start the car. The key locks and unlocks the doors, tailgate or boot lid and fuel flap and illuminates the interior. The electronic engine deadlock immobiliser is activated automatically when the special transponder-equipped key is removed from the ignition and deactivated when the key is then put back in.

*Safety*

My car has Drivers and Passengers Airbags in which I think is standard on all Vauxhall Astras, You can also get Side-Impact Airbags on the 2.2i 16V engine cars.

*Styling*

My car is a standard car at the moment but I will be adding different things here and there in the near future. The cool bits that are standard that I think you should know about are:

White Sports instrumentations
Chrome edging around the instruments
Chrome Door Handles
Service Due Indicator on Dash
15-Inch Alloy Wheels

The above list is just standard but you can add lots of different bits to style the car to suit you. The good thing is all the famous names for car styling such as Max Power and Demon Tweaks have started making different things to fit on to this exact car. Things you can change very from things like Gear Knobs and Levers, Chrome effect Heater controllers, Steering Wheels, to Body Kits and Exhausts. If its what you want to do you could turn this car into looking like a Touring Car, you just won’t have the speed to back it up mind you.

My overall opinion is that this is a great car to own for these reasons: Its Cheap enough to Insure, It looks good, You can Modify it, It has Alloy Wheels, Cheap to Run. Its with out doubt the smoothest running car I’ve driven and probably the finest car that I’ve driven looking at the complete package as a whole.

Thank you for taking time to read my opinion and I hope you enjoyed it. Please Rate this opinion and write a comment.

Thank You

Spike!

** Just a little update to let you know that I've had the car now for about 5 months and its still running beautifully. It has the power when you need it but its not loud so i love it. The air conditioning is great for those hot days as it takes just seconds to cool the car down. The fuel consumption is also very good i only spend about £15 for two weeks where as i used to spend £30 for my 1.8 clio. This car is great.

Thanks for reading the extra bit.

Spike

Like others I'm not sure why "it's a British car" is a disadvantage. I have one of these, and while you could criticise the bland styling etc (most of which is down to the German Opel parent company) the car is very solidly built and well put together. If this is an example of British manufacturing then well done Britain - and certainly there's nothing in your own review to disagree with that. So why the backhanded slur?
