Advantages Hard top and soft top in one!

Disadvantages 1.6 has little power

I currently own one of these car and thought i'd add my 2 cent as a small review. I bought an AstraTwinTop1.6 Sport in July 2007, so have a slightly different view from the other (superb) review on this car.

When I first drove this car i was amazed how it felt like a normal car, if you didnt know it was a convertible you wouldn't guess from inside. I was lucky to be able to try the roof down when i bought it, so of course straight away tried the fold up design. I actually tried this while driving, and had no problems at all with it, the manual says to keep under 20mph when operating the roof, so i was going about 18mph. Once the top was down, it was great, All the windows came down and I was cruising!!

The car handles pretty well around city area's but being a 1.6 you dont get that extra pull when putting your foot down. If I had the choice again i would definitly go for a 1.8 minimum. Being a convertible makes the car heavier than other cars, so you need that bit of extra power.

I currently get about 400 miles to a full tank, which works out at about 31 miles to the gallon. This is very poor, but I am only driving in built up area's so its expected to be a bit lower. When I have gone on longer journey's the milage does go up to about 475 to a full tank. Of course convertibles arn't known for their great miles to the gallon.

6 months down the line i'm still glad i bought this car instead of a bog standard Astra, but would definitly go for a more powerful engine next time.

There are 4 different types of twiptop available

Astra TwinTop (basic car, no trip computer, cannot operate roof with remote)
Astra TwinTop Sport (Trip computer, remote operation included, front fog lights)
Astra TwinTop Design (all of above, including leather seats, 18" Alloys, Cruise control, and more..)
Astra TwinTop Exclusv Black (Same as design but in black with a few extra features)

I'm now waiting for the English weather to warm again so i can drive without the roof!!
