To be honest the first cavalier SRi I came across was an old G Reg faded red rusty £50 example but the car just wouldnt die. Whatever we tried to do to the car to kill it, it just kept on going.

Advantages: Good vauxhall quality, fast and reliable. Disadvantages: A tad ugly now

This was only the 2 litre 8 valve engine but since that car I have bought quite a few cavaliers because I find them brilliant cars.
The cavalier SRi's I have had have all been fanatstic performers right through the engine range (2.0 8v, 2.0 ... ...all the different SRi models and I cant really complain. The car isnt let down anywhere, great fuel economy compared with its performance, comfortable recaro made seats, good handling for a big roomy car, and engines you just cant kill.
In my opinion if you can find a 2.0 16v red top engined SRi with low mileage and clean bodywork, GET IT!!
So all in all to cut a long story short the cavalier SRi is a great car so get one. ... more

Advantages: Refinement, Amazing performance for the running costs, Spec and oh yes and on my late spec model that 16 valve screamer of an engine. Disadvantages: Theres alot of gadgets to go wrong. Alot are ex fleet cars and there not the most exclusive ride.
I have had my sri now for nearly a year now after a golf gti. The first thing you notice is the low fuel consumption for a car with this sort of performance. In my experiance it has good handling for a car of this type and size. It can corner at speed with good control and low body roll and yet not throw the driver around aided by the excellent support of the seats. It also has a nice ride not being to bumpy when the road conditions get unsettled. ... ...with sunroof, alloy's, driving lamps, ABS, electric mirrors windows arial, central locking, alarm and immobiliser, catalitic converter, electric light adjustment and a good stereo. Problems i have had are the centrol locking can stick the arial's can break and the ecotec engine can coke up solved by a £10 oil breather box. Apart from that they are boringly reliable. Storage space is good as the boot is HUGE. Motor way journeys are easier the excels ...

Advantages: family size car, massive boot, good on fuel, comfortable at 70 mph on motorway Disadvantages: Lack of acceleration for a 2.0i but maybe coz its the 8v not the red top 16v eco
I own a vauxhallcavalier2.0i saloon, drives superb, doing about 40 mpg, good family size car, i need to buy a new mid box and end box on exhaust but got a quote of £100 fitted for both parts so i think its very cheap to replace things. Unfortunately 14 hours after me buying the car some basta*d tried to break into it and broke my drivers side lock and central locking dont work anymore and they came back a week later and tried breaking into it again, BUT they still didn't get in which is good but will cost close to £200 to have all locks replaced. The body work is mint for its age its a 1993 (16 years old) not a scratch on it, really mint condition and only paid £360 for it. ...
