Ive been the owner of the Vauxhalls new model Corsa now for a month. At first I was put off the vehicle with it having only a 1 litre three cylinder engine, but I have to say even with a full load of 4 adults it still pulls very willingly. The engine does however make a funny washing machine sound when pushed hard. Its a very pleasant car to drive, I upgraded from a old corsa and can see the huge difference in the new car.I feel Vauxhall have improve the gear change and ride quality no end. While the speed sensitive power steering is out of this world. Ive got a three door model(five door due out early 2001), access to the rear for adults is tricky. But once they are seated there is plently of space.I like the height adjusting drivers seat with means bother me (6 foot 5) and my girlfriend (5 foor 5) have no problems finding the car comfortable for long distances.I would recommend to pay the extra for the central locking kit(about £250).I didnot and find it a pain as you need to always lock the door with the key. With regards to fuel, I dont find this vehicle economical.Im only just over 40 mpg.My old diesel corsa would return 55 mpg plus and my other car a Honda Legend 2.7 still returns 32mpg on the same run (85 percent dual carriageway driving and the rest open city roads). Overall Im very impressed by this car and would recommend it.Its a really nice car to drive. Its a lot more spacious than the out going model. One final word to warning.Watch on SILVER coloured cars as there is a problem with patchy paint work on the bonnet area.I had a problem on the first one I recieved.Dont take the vehicle away from the dealer if you find this problem.Do not accept them to repair it.Ask for your money or a new car, if pushed a little you will get it.
will have the hint in mind when i buy. Dont plan on buying new anyway as i think its a waste of money. looking on ebay to find something cheaper so will keep my eyes open for this. VH review well written nereesa xx

I've been quite happy with my corsa had it from new for 3 1/2 years now and it's only had to have it's exchaust repaired. Good fuel econ and reliable. I just needed an A - B car and this more than does the job - got mine new for 6500 with free insurance bargain!!!

Interesting comments on fuel economy:
I've had two Corsa B's with the 1.0 12v engine (not very different from the one in the new model) and the first (a Club) consistently got 53-55mpg on my mostly extra-urban run; but my current one (a low-spec GLS - essentially a Club + sun-roof) only gets 50-51mpg on the same route).
The only difference between the two seems to the the sun-roof.
On my annual mileage of 20,000 miles, that means the sun-roof is costing me £100 a year...
