Advantages Advantages Looks good with body kit, handling, brakes, suspension, refinement

Disadvantages Disadvantages too much plastic, unsupportive seats, expensive

People critise Vauxhall constantly for being boring cars that are unreliable. Why? I can see how this may apply to the Vectra and Old Corsa, but with the new Corsa, forget it. Its a superb little car which is great to drive and quick for a non-turbo charged diesel. I have had the corsa comfort 1.7DI model now since around January and so far it has covered 9,000mls with no faults and I really dont treat it that well. The new Corsa features a Lotus tuned suspension and that does show on twisty roads where the car remains surefooted and controllable even beyond its limits. The brakes are very ... more

Advantages Advantages reliable, cheap insurance, good looking and lots of space

Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy engine and fuel gauge

I am the proud owner a 1997 Vauxhall Cora merit 1.7d, I have owned the car for only 8 months, but in the time that I have owned I have not a single problem at all. I was a bit unsure about buying a diesel engine as a did have a Peugeot 306 which was very fast and very nippy but when driving the car I was surprised, no I cant say that is fast of nippy but it does have a top speed of around 110 and will happily run at 90mph on the motorway for long distances (although I don’t do that), the acceleration is very poor as 0-30 takes a long time but anything after around 30mph is okay. So, put ... more

Advantages Advantages Economcial nice little supermini

Disadvantages Disadvantages Prices are higher than other makes at the moment

I owned a L reg 1994 corsa 1500 diesel which I bought four years ago for £4000.I sold the five door hatchback in October 2000 for £1850.When I bought the car it had 55000 miles on the clock and when I sold it I had done nearly 30000 miles in it and it only let me down twice (both times the same fault on the alternator burning out). The car was slow upto 30MPH, but was lively after that upto about 80MPH.The greatest thing about the car is the fuel economy, it return 55 mpg plus all the time.Servicing was a pain, every 4500 miles you need to change both oil and filter.I would recommend you to ... more

Advantages Advantages Turbo model as standard, power steering,

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cheap plastic door panels

At first my instructor had an old R reg corsa 1.7 Diesel with 80 odd thousand miles on the clock. Imagine my joy when he turned up at my door one day with his brand new (Y reg) new model 1.7 Di corsa, which now had a turbo and power steering, two things the earlier model missed out on. The old car was like driving a tank. It was sluggish off the mark, the clutch was about as light as a skyscraper, and it turned like a cow. The new corsa is sooooooooo much better it's untrue. To start all the diesel models have a turbo. Yes I know it only says Di on the back but trust me, when it kicks in, you ... more

Advantages Advantages Miles Per Gallon, Pokey Engine, Gearbox

Disadvantages Disadvantages Turbo Lag, Tacky interior

The reasonably new 53 model is a delight to behold. The interior although cheap, is spacious and fairly comfartable for extended periods of time. All the controls are in a logical position, and with little or no stretching required to reach. Important of course to avoid unprovoked detours. Although lacking seat height adjustment I still find the Corsa able to take my ample 6ft 4" frame. On the gadget side of the coin there is a serious lack of any real electronic things to play with while driving, it doesn't have: Steering wheel stereo controls or a CD Player, or electric windows, or a sunroof ... more
