Advantages: Economical and nippy little car Disadvantages: None yet
I have had one of these for just over a year. I bought it because I was averaging 500 miles a week and wanted something economical. Before this I had a Peugot 106 Rallye which drunk petrol like there was no tomorrow. I would guess that by changing from a petrol to a diesel car I have saved myself hundreds of pounds in the last year. A full tank of diesel costs nearly £30 and for that I can do just under 500 miles.
People tend to think that a diesel ... ...had fast cars I can honestly say that this is just as nippy as my Peugot and my old VTS. In top gear I can do over a ton no problem and sometimes it feels as if it needs a sixth gear!
I payed just under £10000 for the car and it came with free insurance and was ready to be picked up from my local dealer in just under a week. With the warranty I also had 3 years free roadside assistance. The only downfall is that I didn't have a free first service ...

Rubbish Car Review ofVauxhall Corsa Sxi Dti 1.7 Carby
SimonDolan
Advantages: Not a lot Disadvantages: Just about everything
...I would never buy a Vauxhall - for a start it had a rubbish image, not exactly a work of art. Having drove it around for a few months - I cannot imagine why anyone apart from Mr Vauxhall himself, would rather have this than a Polo or Punto for example.
The car did not drive particularly well - the engine felt lumpy and kicked in suddenly - I didn`t like the feel of the notchy gearbox and the clutch was heavy - it wasn`t massively economical - respectable ... ...color coded bumper. I think Vauxhall had some problems with the early ECU`s as I heard of a few of these breaking down.
It`s not all bad I suppose - the car ran OK when these problems weren`t occuring and it is quite spacious inside - I am a little surprised to see so many about though. ...

fuel
corsa 60000 at 65 mpg at say £3.60 per gallon £3.60x 923=£3600
my last car 60000 at 35 mpg at say £3.60 per gallon £3.60x 1714=£6171
i plan on selling it at 80000 miles for around £4000 so it should have saved me in fuel costs alone ...

Advantages: This is a neat reliable car with great fuel economy and with the sxi trim it also has a sexy look to it and for anyone looking for a project the fact its a turbo diesel can open up many avenues if you want to mod this car Disadvantages: Diesel is sluggish in the low revs as would be expected and the indicators have an annoying warning sound
...crippling fuel taxes it seems Vauxhall have come to provide us with a saviour. A car that's fun to drive and wont cost you the shirt off your back to run, Blair must be crying in his soup. With the fuel this car saves you can tell Ken to stick his congestion charge cos you've saved enough on diesel to afford it anyway!!! ...
