...had been a 1999 V6 Vauxhall Omega. Whilst I would never have claimed that car to be perfect, for me, it fitted like a glove. It had real character, was comfortable, and, thanks to its rear wheel drive chassis, fun to drive too. For economic reasons (it had a very high Co2 emissions level) I was unable to replace it with a similar car and choose something entirely different, a new diesel powered Honda Accord. From its UK launch, I thought of the ......unofficially imported for some years, Vauxhall in this country have commissioned a limited run of the coupes, simply re-badged with the familiar Griffin logo. After producing a total of almost 500,000 Monaros (most I suspect saloons), Holden ended production of this model earlier this year (2006). ...fast cars then try the Vauxhall Monaro. This big bruit powered by its big 5.7 V8 is a back to basics mussel car. The Monaro comes from down-under and has a Chevrolet engine, this combination make it immensely fun. Despite having such a BIG engine its power figures are quit modest, with only 350bhp, which is nothing compared to what the Germans are giving. The acceleration is that of a super-car. But unfortunately this isn't always easy to see because ......noise down. Because of all the torque it gives out the effortless pulling strength that makes it so quick. The thrill of driving it comes from the noise of the V8 and your control of the car, rather then the speed. Even though it's quit a big car the Monaro is very agile, and if given a bit too much throttle through a corner the back end may slip away but because of the accurate steering it's easy to control. The clutch and gears are quite heavy ... Read review
Advantages: Extremely Powerful Disadvantages: Drinks Fuel Quick
The Vauxhall Monaro VXR V8 Coupe is an extremely powerful car and not for the lighthearted. Of my experience it prefers to go sideways intead of in a straight line due to the 400+bhp produced from the 5.7i litre engine passing into the 6 speed gearbox and then transfered the the rear wheels. The only slight problem that I have found is that it loves the taste of fuel and drinks it quite a bit quicker than a standard car but that can be expected with ......on the road and on the track and it handles and drive perfectly on both. The mechanical side of this car purely awsome and so is the rest of the car. For instance the standard sound system in this car is better than most I have ever heard and the interior is more spacious and luxurious than I was expecting. To sum it up this car is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone. You will have no regrets. ... Read review
