Advantages: Small, Cheap Tax, Good On Fuel, Old School Styling Disadvantages: Easy To Steal
...a 1991 onwards model because Vauxhall uprated the looks (They used different headlights, better seats, wider arches and different wings) but unfortunately they used single point injection so the performance was slightly reduced. If you want better performance from your 1.2 then go for the Pre 1991 model Nova becauase Vauxhall used standard carburettor engines which had slightly better performance. Anyway I personally love the Nova and will always ......If you want a really sporty nova then check out the GTE/GSi models with 1.6 8 valve engines. Or if you want Vauxhall's up to date version of the Nova check out the Corsa. There is a few things I wouldnt trust in a Nova and thats the fact that they are so easy to steal and the majority of Nova's have been stolen at some point in their life, another thing is I wouldnt like have a smash in a Nova because basically they are just tin boxes with wheels ... Advantages: Simple, original, cheap! Disadvantages: Some problems starting in cold weather.
...the engines are good quality Vauxhall and also they are very easy to find parts for as they are popular cars. People always ask me questions like "if you had a choice between a Nova and a Ferrari, which would you choose?"... my answer is always "Ferrari, then sell it to buy more Novas". Every Nova is different in its own way, and out of all seven Novas I have to say the 1.3 SR was my favourite. Mainly because of the fact I learnt to drive in it, ......like the look of more than the mk2s. The mk2s generally will have less rust than the mk1s, as they are newer. First place to look for rust on a Nova would be the rear arches as these can cause problems in the MOT if it is excessive. Novas do not have power steering, and so are a little hard to steer, but Corsa power steering can be fitted to help you out with this! It is rare that people do this, but eBay sometimes sells them so keep checking there ... Read review
Advantages: retro looks on a comeback Disadvantages: slow rusty rear arches
REAR ARCHES The most common problem with the nova is rusty rear arches. The spot welds holding the inner and outer wing fail and water gets in and rusts it away. To fix this takes cutting, welding, prep, painting, loads of hassle, money and time. But don't give up hope, if the arches are only just a little bit rusty, then an arch repair get can be purchased for about £20 an arch. All that is required is to pay the labour to fit it and a small amount ......it all depends on how much money you want to spend. If it does get repaired, then it will easily outlast the rest of the car. FRONT WINGS Nova wings do crease in minor accidents, this will crack the paint and allow the water to get in and rust the wing. But don't worry, these are very easy to replace as they simply bolt onto the inner wings. They cost about £30-40 a wing depending on where u have a mk 1 nova or a mk2 facelift , but remember to ... i started to drive last july, and i've loved every minute of it. It gives you so much more freedom, you can go any where and every where and you haven't got to wait around for the buses. I took out a bank loan so that i could buy a car insure it and have a little bit over. While i was looking through the paper i wasn't looking for a nova, but it stood out. The nova was blue/green and straight away i wanted it My mum & dad took me to see it that ......excited. when we got there we saw the nova also had a private plate which was good aswell. My dad managed to get the man down to $800 Which wasn't bad the car had had one lady owner, full service history and was really clean. I had no problems with my car, until it needed a srvice earlier on this year, my dad being a mechanic, sorted it out and my car has continued to run perfectly ever since. I love my little nova and am really glad that i brought ... Read review
Advantages: cheap, economical, great fun Disadvantages: getting on abit now :(
...white 1 litre 3 door vauxhall nova boasting only 55,000 miles which was relatively cheap for a 1991 model. The first test drive was great, nippy pick up and amzingly fantastic handling, probrably due to the lowered suspension and uprated wider alloy wheels. The car was rust free and didnt even have any rust around the rear arches which novas are PRONE to getting! I was very satisfied. all though a few weeks ago i came into money problems :S so i ......for a mere 450 pounds! i was devastated. although she has gone i would always have time to buy another nova. The most fun you can have in a car by far, nippy acceleration, great handling, low fuel consuption everything you look for in a car. I would advise any one to try a nova, altough it doesnt give you a great image you will always have the smile on your face :-) ... Read review
