...A very reliable car. We needed it because we have two young children and the idea of the back seats being able to slide forward was a big bonus especially during holiday time. The boot is also big enough for a pushchair/pram and shopping even when the rear seats are set at standard. Very good petrol consumption wise if doing long distance. Plenty leg room through out. We bought second hand and got a good price. It has the roller up blinds in the rear which I think are better than the tinted windows. Cons: too many overhead storage compartments, don't know why they are there. The rear seat can only take two people, it won't fit a child seat and two booster seats which is a pity because if Vauxhall changed this, they could tap into the family market with 3 kids because of the spacious leg room and space in boot. Advantages: Great drive
Disadvantages: Economy suffers when driven hard.

...I had a couple of these as hire cars, covering about 15000 miles over 6 months. They were pre-facelift models (04 and 54 reg). If I was in the market to buy a car in this class. this would be a sure contender. The SRi badge is probably pushing things a little. I always associated SRi's with BIG engines, and certainly not diesels! However, while the diesel (150ps) does a good job, I have to say the handling is the thing that justifies that Sri badge. The car feels really safe cornering and in general driving situations. While the Vectra has yet to reach the NCAP safety ratings of 5* acheived by manufacturers such as Renault, I would suggest that improved handling offered by a Vectra over a competetive model would actually reduce your need for this higher rating. ...executive car. It also happened to have five spacious seats, three of which 95% of the time remained unoccupied. However, at the end of the working day, or week come to that, I return home, remove my business suit and tie and become ordinary Joe. OK, I have a Polish wife who has, by English standards anyway, a fairly large family. We drive to Poland twice a year, her parents and young sister fly to England alternate years. Outside of the 9 to 5 (if only!) I like to think that we have some social life. A family and I need a five seater car! 5% of the year I do need all five seats, most "executives" I think would tell you the same thing. Oh yes, the Signum does look, on the outside at least, rather better than the Vectra. Certainly you would know at 100 paces that it has more than just a passing resemblance to that car, but due to its rarity... Read review
