...novelty value.
Fortunately, this year, they had a V6CDTi available, albeit with an automatic gearbox. This was the "Design" model which had an unfortunately cheap looking interior. All Signums now come as standard with satellite navigation system and blacked out rear windows but the trim levels stay the same. The ambience of the two Elite models driven last year certainly makes an overwhelming difference to the interior of this car.
The cynic inside me tells me that Vauxhall have had to throw expensive items like sat-nav at this car in order to get them through the showroom doors, it has been on the market for two years now and you still see remarkably few of them out on the road.
However, and it's a big one - this brand new 3.0 litre - common rail (that is the diesel fuel injection system) 6 cylinder engine is superb! Whilst I would still...

Advantages: Sporty feel, improvement over others in range Disadvantages: Minor technical faults (trim, electrical), fuel economy, company car tax band
...2005 Vectra 3.0V6CDTI SRi
The SRi is a more defined car, than the "normal" range cars.
This is helped by "uprated" suspension and wider track tyres.
Interior features are slightly similar to the standard range, but enhanced by improved trim
Performance is near to that of the older 2.5 V6 GSi, but with vastly improved fuel economy
The vehicle is a compromise between the 1.9 CDTI SRi (which will return a better fuel economy) and the 3.0V6CDTI Elite
Fuel consumption averages 30mpg.
Insurance is reasonable for the performance
Due to the high company car tax band and the poor fuel economy (compared to the 1.9 CDTI version) haggle hard for a discount
I bought my 16 month old, 10000 mile example for £10800 on a window price of £11995
When bought from a Vauxhall dealership, a 12 month unlimited mileage warranty is included and can...

Advantages: Comfort and exclusivity Disadvantages: An executive hatchback???
...I bought this car on its first birthday, an ex Vauxhall demo car. It had 13k and the clock and was sold for almost half of the original invoice price. Can anyone afford to buy one of these private from new? I have since covered just 6,000 miles but Glass's guide tells me I have lost just over a grand. I
hope that is a good indication that the depreciation has now slowed to acceptable levels.
Ok, so the 3.2 auto engine has used some gas, no surprise. My fuel mix is heavily urban and I average 24.2 mpg; acceptable I feel. What is exceptional in this car though is the build. Just slide in to the electric leather seats and imeadiately you can tell this is German build; hewn from the solid. I have not had one single problem from day one with this car. Not even a rattle!! First service came this week after 2 years and 19k miles. Cost: £165...
