I recently bought an old Vauxhall Combo 1994 - unlike Escorts, these don't seem to suffer the same problems with rust except on the "hump" above the cab, which is definitely good for MOTs. They're cheap and plentiful second hand, cost almost nothing to insure and certainly seem to last. Newer models have an Vauxhall Diesel engine 1.9 however mine has the Izuzu 1.7 - not that I am complaining, they're built like houses and are incredibly economical, ...

I have owned a 2000 Movano high roof with a 2.5 diesel engine for about 8 months, bought from a local dealer with 100,000 miles on the clock. I have found the van to be good to drive, with direct, positive steering and surprising nimbleness for such a tall vehicle. ...commercial vehicles this cab says vauxhall in a few places and you could take it to vauxhall for service but that is where the link with vauxhall ends. ...buying a vehicle with 100k on I should expect break downs, but it was a calculated risk as being only two years old these miles must have been mostly motorway miles, but my wallet is still frightend to take a ride in the vehicle.
