Advantages Looks, handling and the toys....
Disadvantages Takes too long to polish!
Well after my trusty Megane died we went looking for a new car. We decided on a Vauxhall Vectra mainly due to the expanding family and we needed a car quick. After a runin with Evens Hallshaw (http://www.ciao.co.uk/Evans_Halshaw__Review_5716127) we got our Vectra. I have since adopted her as my new wife christened her "Impulse". Despite her size she is beautiful. All the curves in the right places and nice smooth lines. Always full of surprises and offers me instant pleasure….Anyway on with the review, We have only had her since September but she is a great car, fun to drive and has enough gadgets to keep James Bond happy.
Now Mr Bond pay attention…This is I am particuly pleased with Mr Bond, vauxhall call it the "infotainment unit", I call it the gadgets!
The built in Satellite Navigation is manufactured by Navteq and is quite easy to use, allows post code entry, traffic warnings and automatic route diversions. The sat nav is easily updated to newer version by inserting the updated cd in the head unit. These cd's can either be purchased from the Vauxhall dealers or can be found on ebay for a fraction of the price that vx want.DAB radio is also included, which does change radio stations depending on which region you are driving in. The CD player is capable of playing MP3 and the display provides artist, album and song information.
The onboard computer includes current mpg, average mpg, current speed average speed and trip times. The sat nav, radio and on board computer can all be controlled by the 6 buttons on the steering wheel.
Also included is "Auto dimming mirrors", this is the first time I had come across them, their function is to prevent the driver being blinded by bright lights from following cars, the drivers side wing mirror and the rear view mirror turn a shade of green thus preventing dazzling. This is a very useful feature and works very well. There is a lot of hidden gadgets in the Vectra that is not published by Vauxhall for example the sat nav can be set up to display your current speed, there is "see me home lights" that remain on once the car is parked. One of the more clever gadgets is when a bulbs blows a message will appear on the central screen detailing which bulb. If it is a brake bulb the car will then use a normal driving bulb to act as the brake bulb. All very clever stuff.
ComfortWell the drivers seat is highly adjustable and according to the manual any size and shape of driver will experience the perfect driving position.
