Advantages Very spacious and luxurious
Disadvantages High oil connsumption
Being a proud owner of a 02 reg model of this car I thought i should take this opportunity to tell you all a little more about my little baby.
This car is the typical high quality you come to expect from vauxhall, the car comes with a built in computer which lists the amount of miles left that you can do before running out of fuel, outside temperature with a freeze warning, average mph, instantaneous fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, an extra tripometer which isn't limited to 999miles, also incorporated into this trip computer is a system check system, this tells you via a LCD screen when your brakelights don't work, your oil, coolant and windscreen washer fluid needs changing. On the inside, the Vectra is very well laid out, there is lots of space, i have carried a 6ft single bed in the back of mine. the half leather interior, gives it a touch of class, without going over the top and it doesn't leave that strong leather smell, I don't like that because it gives me headaches. There is a single cd/radio tuner which has its standard controls, and also has easy to usesteering wheel mounted controls for safe driving. These controls are very ergonomical, sitting just where your hands would when driving.
The performance is exceptional. Although being a diesel, to drive you would not think so. It doesn't have that heavy engine noise that one would expect to hear from a diesel and the drive, well you definitly know that you have 2.2litres when you put your foot down, the engine seems to always want to go faster and i don't doubt that given the right driving conditions it will have no difficulty in reaching well over 100mph. It has front and rear sports suspension, abs and traction control all as standard. The only problem i have found is that she goes through a lot of engine oil, I thought that there was a fault at first but when taken to 2 spereate vauxhall dealers, it was explained that the engine works at such a high temperature, the oil just burns off and that this is perfectly normal.
To look at the vectra is beautiful. she is long and sleek, with 17" 12 spoke alloys, and a stainless steel twin exhaust which is oblong rather than round. I find this much more attractive. The vectra also has a manufacturers fit Alarm and immobiliser, with interior sensors that can be turned off when you are in a petrol station, very clever.Overall this car is a dream, not only to drive but also to look at. She is great fun and very reliable with a 20000 mile/2yr service. Vauxhall also offer free MOT testing if you have your car serviced at a vauxhall service centre and also offer you 10% off parts and labour on production of a network Q card which issued at the time of purchase.
I would reccommend this car to anybody who is looking for an executive style car with some punch behind it, without the expense of BMW or Mercedes.

I have the 2.2 Sri on hire at the moment for a week and I must say it's a dream to drive. Good op, Steve
