Advantages: Great Handling Disadvantages: Its a Vauxhall
I had the pleasure to have one of these cars to drive recently. It was one of the best handling cars I have ever driven. A very responsive gear box and good feel of the road combine to give the driver the confidence to take corners without worrying about losing control. Traction control prevents any wheel slipping when pulling away (although it can be switched of for fun!!). Recaro seats complete the racing feel. The car is sadly let down by its ... ...standard model, but inside it just looks like another vectra. The only effort seems to be a silver gear nob and a ceramic style steering wheel, the latter, difficult to grip if your hands are at all sweaty. This car would appeal to the boy racer who also had a family. The car would be more at home around the race track than on the road, however.

Traction control prevents any wheel slipping when pulling away (although it can be switched of for fun!!). Recaro seats complete the racing feel. The car is sadly let down by its interior. The Vectra 2.5 V6 GSi is different to the other V6 Vectras in that it has more power (192BHP instead of 170BHP) and is aimed at a much sportier part of the market. The extra power means that it will do close to 150mph in top speed (arguably) and will crack the 0-60 in 7.5 seconds as opposed to 8.0 for the "regular" V6.
You also get a much more agressively styled car: a big spoiler on the boot, an Imrscher front spoiler, an impressive chromed twin ... ...Yokohamas.
Interior equipment is good: 6 disk CD changer, decent stereo (see below), air con, electric windows (front only which is a bit disappointing on a £22,000 car - Saab provde all round electric windows as standard on all their cars), Reccaro seats (very comfy), and a multi function trip computer.
I've had my car for 8 weeks now and have never had so much fun. It's quicker than the standard V6 and with the lowered suspension it goes round ...

Advantages: Nice looking car Disadvantages: Not fast enough from a standing start
I have just taken this model of Vectra on a test drive when at an open day for vauxhals, I accidently got lost so I could see what the car would preform like and to be honest it was not nearly as quick off the mark as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong it is not a slow car but for years I had a Cavalier SRi and if I had the choice I would go back to that rather than I a new Vectra.
Vectra's still need new tyres every 10-12,000 miles and for ...

...0 do you think of Vauxhall - No. It's hardly the first name that springs to mind - Lotus could be one, and Porsche perhaps, maybe even Fiat - but due to cars like the Vectra - the Vauxhall image has been one of much blandness throughout the past few years. However, all is changing as I type - the latest Astra models and Astra Coupe models show style - and the forthcoming Corsa will be a hit. Add to that the greatest Sports car at under £24000 - the ...

Advantages: Very fast car Disadvantages: How many prroblems can a car have
If you want speed and to be be able to do 150mph plus then this car is fine I am not nocking it on the performance front. But we had this model 2.5 v6 and the amount of problems that we had were out of this world. It took 2 months to fix a blocked up air conditioning filter as the car is so complicated. The car flooded due to this with large pools of water flooding the passenger side. The handbrake was faulty with the vectra of this N reg batch that ...

Advantages: Unusually good build quality and reliability from a Vauxhall. Disadvantages: The wife limits my access.
...most of my experience with Vauxhall have been costly. The 2.6 V6 SRi is without doubt one of Vauxhalls finest cars, in my opinion. From the outside theres little to give away the potential of the car to the casual motorist. Sure theres the body coloured mouldings and bumpers, 16" twin spoke alloys, slightly lower stance, a square rear Irmscher tailpipe and a tiny badge on the side and rear but all these are normally overlooked. Fantastic! Who wants ... ...prying eyes? NOT ME! Out on the road the Vectra is a great car. It inspires confidence thanks to it's traction control and huge amount of grip in the corners. It never feels unsettled even in extreme driving conditions such as heavy rain and snow. It happily cruises through town all day at 30 mph with it's light clutch and light steering. It rewards the driver and passengers with air conditioning for year round comfort. However where the Vectra exceeds ...

Advantages: Good to drive, front seat space Disadvantages: Fuel bills, it's a Vauxhall
the best to go for and seem to be more sought after than other colours. They also suit the car better.
As with anything with a V6 in, make sure it's serviced properly, if a cambelt goes you could be looking at 24 bent valves and a bill for £2000+. Dealer back up is good with them as obviously Vauxhall dealers are everywhere who will look after it for you. Servicing is quite cheap considering it's a V6 with them starting at £180 upwards. Another good point is it's only group 14 insurance! For a V6 that's good. For a 28 year old with full no claims you'd be looking at about £350 a year, not bad for the performance.
As I said at the start don't expect good fuel economy, if you want that buy a diesel. Prices for the 3.2's plummet as well. Considering they are £21000 new I've seen 1 1/2 year old ones going for £9000. Ouch!
