I have almost black hair which i love on top of my head, but hate it on the rest of my body. I also have really pale skin which makes it show up even more. I am especially conscious of the hair on my arms, to the point wear i will not wear t-shirts, even in really hot weather. I got sick of hiding my arms and didn't want to wax or shave them, so i decided to try a hair lightening cream. I lingered in the hair lightening and removal aisle in Boots, trying to decide which product to use. I had narrowed it down to to two: Jolen Bleach and Veet Hair Lightening Cream. As it was my first time doing this and the word 'bleach' scared me slightly because i thought it would burn my skin off, i went for the Veet Hair Lightening Cream. It was also a lot cheaper per 100g than the Jolen (by about £10!) I used it on Christmas Eve, planning to wear a new short sleeved top the next day. In the box you get a little pot and spatula, a tube of hair lightening cream and a tube of activating cream. You are told to mix equal amounts of lightening cream and activating cream in the pot using the spautula, and then use the spatula to smooth the cream over the hair, making sure it is completely covered. There is plenty of cream, i had enough for both arms and still had some spare, and the spatula is really easy to use. I had the cream applied in no time. I followed the instructions, then left it for 10 minutes before checking underneath the cream. When i saw there had been no change i left it for another 5. The box tells you not to leave the cream on for more than 15 minutes as it starts to tickle. After nearly 20 minutes i removed the cream using the spatula and was extremely disappointed to see there had been no difference in the colour of the hair at all. I never expected my hairs to become invisible because they are so dark, but they weren't lightened at all. I was furious because the product is obviously made for dark hair, but whats the point if it doesn't even work?!! Plus, i had to wear a jumper on Christmas Day! I would advise anybody with very dark hair not to buy this product because it wont work. I will be trying Jolen bleach before the summer, and will hopefully feel confident enough to wear a t-shirt!

I dont have this problem but I have seen people who have bleached facial hair and it tends to go ginger, which actaully draws attention more than dark hair. I always wonder why they didnt just get it waxed or sugared off.
Good review.
