The title may well suggest that I am part of a rare breed of females who has a hairy back, I don't but I will get on to the relevance of the title towards the end of the review.
-Veet Hair Removal Products -Veet, formerly Immac (which, demonstrating my age I still tend to call it the latter) have a wide range of products available:
Hold 10 cms away and spray the mousse evenly over dry skin
Leave for 8 minutes then test, then leave for a further 2 minutes if hair removal hasn't taken place.
Use the sponge that is in the top of the lid to remove the mousse and hopefully the hair under lukewarm water.

As of July 2006 this was 4.79 from Boots
- My experience -
This is quite messy and the mousse (which looks a bit like shaving foam) does tend to drip off some areas or squirt in different directions. There is often a 'build up' of mousse at the end of the nozzle which I found I had to keep wiping away before continuing with the next section. Veet advise you to stand in an empty shower or bath but what I do, is to stand on a large old bath sheet / towel which covers the carpet area so that I'm not literally stuck, standing in a bath for 8 minutes! I know that 8 minutes doesn't sound long but when you are forced to stand in a confined area for that length of time it does seem like a long time.
I don't have very hairy legs but was very disappointed with the results; some areas were left very smooth whereas others were still a bit on the bristly side. Perhaps I didn't use it on long enough hairs although they don't state a recommended hair length for greater effectiveness which I know is often the case with waxing.
The mousse does smell so I would advise you to open a window but I have to say that since the days of Immac, the smell isn't quite as over powering.
The supplied sponge isn't great either, it tends to get very claggy so what I use is an old drink spatula which although slightly harsher on the skin tends to apply the necessary pressure to remove those stubborn hairs!
The plus point of the can is that the spray function works when the can is held both upright and upside down enabling you to get to any awkward and hard to reach places, especially the backs of your legs.
- Hairy backs -
Being disappointed with this on my legs, it sat in my cupboard for a couple of weeks until a male friend of mine wanted his 'monster-like' back doing. Not one for salons and waxing I was the best option to remove the unsightly hair!
Out came the mousse and it really did work. Perhaps this is because the hair was so much longer than the stubble I had on my legs. After about 5 minutes you could actually see the hairs beginning to change, looking very wavy and frazzled as if he had got too close to an open flame.
We left it on for the full 10 minutes, scraped it off with the spatula which I have to say was a very messy job and rinsed the back to give an extremely smooth, hair-free finish.
His back was slightly red but we dolloped some E45 on it and a day later I text him to see if he was a bit itchy and it was a resounding no.
Although Veet advise that this mousse should only be used on legs this really did work on the back area. I'm sure sometimes they say that it can't be used on different areas in order for you to buy different products for different areas of the body. I wouldn't however use it on more sensitive areas!!
Apologies to anyone who didn't want to know about the hairy back but I thought I would give readers an idea of where this mousse actually does work.- Precautions -
Don't use on broken or irritable skin
Don't use on skin that has been shaved in the last 72 hours
Test the product on a small area first ( I never do this, maybe I should!)
May damage or discolour materials And the general info about not ingesting it or getting it in to your eyes!
- My verdict -As the title suggests this really doesn't work that well on legs but is great for hairy backs. I certainly won't be using it again on my legs, would much rather have a quick 30 second whizz round with the razor but the remainder of the can is still in the cupboard for the next time I have the arduous task of hair removal from a back!
To choose whether or not to recommend this to buyers was a tricky one but I have opted for 'No' since this is intended for legs and didn't work well at all.

Review of Veet Hair Removal Mousse
Advantages: Neat and not messy, low odor compared to cream, easy to apply even to the backs of legs Disadvantages: The foam went airy and runny after several minutes so stay in the bathroom. Burned in sensitive areas (underarms)
