Veet Facial Waxing Strips
****************************
For those of you who are new to waxing, this may not be the most encouraging first choice - I suppose, shaving is the easiest or even plucking, though fairly painful and potentially takes forever.

What is it?
***********
Waxing strips for hair removal. A solidified liquid wax the size of a wooden ice-cream stick is encased between two plastic sheets. The pack refers to facial waxing strips (yellow pack), though they may be used on other parts of the body such as underarms, bikini line and touch-ups. For the face, the strips can be used for the upper lip, chin and centre brow.

How do I use them?
*********************
It is usually best to test on a small area first to check for any sensitivities. Normally, if you have not waxed before, it is best to start waxing on the legs before attempting on the facial area in order to gain sufficient skill.

First , make sure the skin area is thoroughly clean and free of oils. Talcum powder may be used to ensure an oil free surface. You can use the strips directly or it is usually best to cut them down to size.

Before applying, it is also helpful to warm the wax up with your hands. Then pulling the sheets apart, apply one sheet of wax over the desired area. Gentle apply a few strokes over the area to ensure sufficient attachment. Then using one hand to hold the skin taut, with the other hand hold onto the strip. In one swift decisive movement remove the strip against the direction of hair growth. There will be diagrams included in the instructions booklet to help you check that you are removing the strips in the correct direction.

After removing, the area should be hair free - it is probably best to pluck any remaining stray hairs, although the wax strip may be reapplied.

I have reapplied the wax strip before and repeated the waxing again, but this aggravated my skin and left red patches - each person reacts different so this is just my experience. It does state in the instruction booklet that it's normal for the skin to be red, however, I have noticed that it affects my skin tone and so I try never to re-wax the same area.

After pulling away the wax strip, use the alcohol cloths provided to wipe and sooth the treated area.

Results:
*********
It takes a bit of practice to get some good results, though generally the wax strips can be removed with no problems. I generally find that treated area stays free up to a week - this is for my facial only, so will probably be different for other areas, the packet does states that results last for up to 4 weeks.

The wax strips may be a bit harsh on some sensitive areas, particular with poor removal technique, so it may be best to test a small area with some added practice first. The wax strips can not be used on varicose veins, moles, scars or burnt, irritated, sunburnt skin, or skin that has suffered a reaction to other forms of wax in the past.

Cost:
******
£3.99 for 20 wax strips and four individually wrapped alcohol wipes.

Afterthoughts:
***************
Waxing doesn't really suit everyone and there are other easier and more convenient methods of hair removal.

Thanks for reading. xx
