Having sensitive skin, I opted for the sensitive skin version of Veet ready-to-use wax strips...I wasn't impressed.

Shaving irritates my skin and no one likes stubble! A bit of pain has never put me off waxing and having already tried a tub of hot wax (burnt skin and yet the hair still refused to budge) wax strips seemed like a clean and simple alternative.

Currently in Boots for around £5.99, a box of Veet wax strips contains 20 small strips and 4 perfect finish wipes. Quite simply you first need to warm a strip between your hands for a few seconds to activate the forumula. Then peel the double strip which you will give you two separate strips and place on wax side down onto the area you wish to remove hair from. Immediately rub gently in the directly the hair grows, ie. ankle to knee, and rip off the strip quickly. When waxing its best to keep your skin taught to make sure all of the hair is properly covered and the pores are open enough to make removal easier. You can re-use each strip several times until its covered or has lost its effectiveness. Once you have finished waxing, the perfect finish wipes provided get rid of any sticky residue.

The strips are suitable for short hair which means you don't need to cover up your legs/underarms etc for months whilst the hair grows back long enough. As long as its 2mm, the product claims to work and remove all hair for silky soft skin. The strips also contain natural papaya oil which moisturises your skin, so although you may experience some bumps and redness for a couple of hours post-waxing, the soothing ingredients help to minimise this.

I thought that Veet, currently known as Immac, would be a good product as it's quite a popular brand. I was very disappointed however as the strips didn't remove much of the hair. I followed the instructions very carefully, and ripped the strips off quickly with all my might, and yet half of it was still there. I wouldn't say they're painful at all, but everyone has different tolerance levels. I got through most of the box trying to my calf and gave up. I attempted my bikini line and my underarms too but to no avail. Therefore I can't really comment on the claim that they give long lasting results up to 4 weeks...

The product didn't work for me, but that's not to say they wont work for everyone. I guess you need to try them to see if they suit your skin, but I personally don't think they're strong enough to rid you of your unwanted hair and you'll just get frustrated and disappointed like I did. I can't think of anything positive about these strips because they didn't work, but they smelt okay and it's a good idea in itself. Shame they didn't deliver what they claimed.

I still shave my legs but in the end I plucked up the courage to get a professional bikini and underarm wax done - and it was brilliant. This costs a tad more than the strips, but at least you'll leave happy and hair-free!
