Advantages: 2 processors in 1 , same size as single core. Disadvantages: Not the most powerful version
...Fan
On my 4600 I have a standard alloy CPU heatsink and fan with compound paste of course. This provides suffiecent cooling. If you want to turn up the power of the 4600 you can via overclocking though more powerful cooling will be needed.
Summary
The 4600 can be faster than it's big bro the 4800. It has huge amounts of power and is my processor of choice. If you want future proofing, this will do it. If yu have more money to blow, wait for AMD quad cores as this will provide the biggest improvement. All in all, a absolute bargin of a CPU for your PC.
END NOTE
If you are thinking of upgrading your PC then I would advise you to wait for QUAD core AMDs which are out soon. They will offer you a much better bang per buck than a dual core processor though they are going to be much more expensive and the chances are, you will need a new...

Advantages: fast, runs cool, easy to install, cheap Disadvantages: none
...My Previous processors have all been Intel, with exception to an AMD 1800+ that was used as a home server.
The reason for replacing my P4 HT 3Ghz was due to the motherboard systematically failing when the USB devices are connected.
When you buy the retail box, you do get all you need for the processor
- Heat-sink and fan
- Processor (all 939 pins of it - counted of course)
I can recommend getting some thermal grease. This acts as sort of a small barrier between the processor (where it gets very hot), and the copper plates on the fan (to disperse the heat and keep it cool).
I'm a person that will build a pc and take it apart just to build it again.
When installing processors, there is a small gold triangle on one corner that aligns with a triangle on the motherboard. This must be aligned or else you with break the Processor...

Advantages: Very fast,Very stable, you get something for your money,Intel quality Disadvantages: -
...was compared to the old AMD Thunderbirds, when they had same clock speed(the + means even faster)
But at the end, and now i come to my cpu Intel won with their new FSB 800 (front side bus=200mhz, but they call it quad pumped, so x4=800).
Intel produced them from 2400Mhz to 3200Mhz.
The AMD Athlon XP+ had no chance (not even the best, 3200+) and so AMD introduced the new AMD64, but this is another story, they had to do this to get the lead again.
MY 3.2GHZ
I bought my new PC about 8 months ago, and i wanted the most fast CPU, and this was the P4 3.2Ghz.
He was much more expensive than a 3Ghz(compared to that because a 3Ghz wasnt so much more expensive than a 2.8Ghz for example) but i wanted the best.
Since that time i had much fun with it.
For example i overclocked this CPU, it has got a boxed cooler, this means Intel sends a powerfull cooler...

Go on admit it. You know you want a faster processor, but every time you check the prices you gasp in horror at what the current prices stand at. This CPU is no different, it is expensive to many consumers' minds and many cannot find a good enough reason more
