    Advantages Advantages Wonderful characters, great plot, well-written, good view of upper-class society in Regency times

    Venetia is one of my all-time favourite literary heroines. Twenty-five years old, in Regency England, she was brought up in Yorkshire by a reclusive father who rarely lets her out of the locality. Not that he was unkind to her. She has plenty of money which she can spend however she wishes, and the freedom to go out for walks by herself: something that most upper-class young women of the time would never have done.
