Extra memory for me - Samsung 160Gb External hard drive USB

Advantages: Small smart looking and light, easy to use
Disadvantages: none that I have found

can get desktop hard-drive which are bigger and need an external power supply but usually have more storage capacity. But my Samsung is a portable hard-drive with a storage capacity of 160GB MY PORTABLE HARD DRIVE: This little Samsung hard drive is really compact, with a neat aluminium body and does not require external power supply. I bought my Samsung hard-drive online from Ebay not in an auction but a Buy it Now seller. It has 160 GB storage capacity and costs me under £40. It weighs around 150 gram and easily fits in my bag or a jacket pocket. It is just a sealed aluminium box with a mini USB port at one end ? nothing else at all. The actual item is 11.5cm x 1.0cm x 7.0cm (only 0.5" inch thick) which is amazing I think. All I did when it arrived was take it out of the box, plug the mini USB into the item then plug the 2 USB ...

Review of Samsung Portable HM160JU 160 GB

Maxtor Basics 160GB External Portable Hard Drive

Advantages: inexpensive, easy to use and very portable
Disadvantages: less storage space available than advertised in the specs

I bought one of these drives yesterday at Tesco - £39.97 - what a bargain, in the big electrical stores its well over 50 quid... However, when I plugged it in and tried it out I discovered that it reads as a 149GB drive. Thinking that meant it was faulty, I returned it to the store and made an exchange (that was painless, so kudos to Tesco!). The thing is, the new one reads as the exact same 149GB! So whats that all about? I'd be interested in the experience of others or any explanations offered. Is it from a duff batch or are there technicals reasons for it reporting less than 160Gb when connected... With regard to the rest of the other guy's review, I agree completely - it is dead easy to use, small and lightwieght. Quite cute actually - if electronics can be cute! Hell, at that price 149GB increases my storage so much ...

Review of Maxtor Basics Portable 160 GB

Xbox 360 120GB Hard Drive

Advantages: Lots of space for all your gaming needs.
Disadvantages: Price, Dust, Missing GB

My personal experience with the Xbox 360 hard drive has been fairly positive. The ability to store music, films, videos and of course games saves is one that no Xbox gamer should be without. 120 GB of memory is more than enough for the average gamer. The hard drive is well designed to blend with the console perfectly. It is small and easy to store. However the price is pretty heavy compared to the cheaper 20GB versions. A problem with the memory is the fact that the hard drive does not actually have 120GB, obviously it wouldn't be exactly due to the need for the running files but several GB are actually missing. Regular cleaning is advised as dust tends to collect on the hard drive but a sharp blow into the docking port is sufficient to clear this. All in all this product is an incredibly useful addition to any Xbox 360 gamers ...
