I first purchased this aftershave in Tenerife a good few years back. Although I had taken a few aftershaves on holiday with me I decided to treat myself to a new one and there it began.
I had meant to buy another bottle before leaving the island as i had somewhat fallen in love with this aftershave although at the time i did think well its just because its new and well when your on holiday everything seems better than it really is but this was no holiday romance it was the real thing. I never did get round to buying another bottle but thought oh well I thought just get a bottle when I get home. Although the bottle I had purchased still had almost half its contents left I didn’t want to run out of this scent I was fast becoming addicted to.
The scent of this aftershave is very distinctive it is somewhat sweet but then not, somewhat strong but then not. It has a sweet overtone a bit citrusy perhaps oriental with a masculine woody undertone which when blended together make for a scent which I cannot put into words.
The scent once applied will last for hours, I have regularly worn it out to pubs and clubs full of smoke in the days before the smoking ban and came home 8 hours on and the only smell from me was that of the dreamer, in fact you can still smell it off the clothes you wore as they lie in the washing basket waiting to be washed.
Although the scent is a long lasting one it is never over powering even after first spraying it on it dies down straight away to the very beautiful scent that will stay with you through out your day or night. I find it a scent I can use anytime be it for work, days out or nights out clubbing it’s a fragrance that is very universal.
I have used countless aftershaves throughout the years, I was always one for trying the newest scent on the market but now I tend to stay faithful to the dreamer. Of all the aftershaves I have worn the dreamer and dolce & gabana by are the only ones which have seen people approach me to ask what I am wearing it really is that distinctive.
Now back to my addiction story and the trouble with not buying another bottle in Tenerife. The problems started when this bottle I had bought on holiday finally began to run out and I couldn’t find this stuff on sale anywhere in the UK. This was several years ago when I was an internet novice and didn’t even consider trying to buy it online. Still to this day I have not seen it on a shelve in a shop anywhere in the UK but have of course found many online suppliers of it.
It comes in many sizes as most aftershaves and perfumes do and you have to take care where you buy it from because the price differs dramatically from site to site. Some sites are charging virtually full price for a bottle which will see you pay £35 for a 30ml bottle. However I am glad to say there are others such as perfume point who will sell you a 50ml edt spray for as little as £12. There are also various sites selling gift sets and all sorts for many different offers, simply Google, VERSACE THE DREAMER and start hunting!

It is a firm favourite with me and I think always will be, I do still dabble in other fragrances but always find my way back to the dreamer for those special nights out!
Hope this has been an enjoyable and informative read, and guys if you want to get noticed get THE DREAMER!
...and compares to all other Versace fragrances I have tried. It has an maturer man appeal to it that maybe maturer women would love. The fragrance is very overpowering and manly at first and doesnot fade away quickly. Versace dreamer is not about subtleness its about statement and attention, and thats what you get from a woman when she smells it for the first time as her awareness is soon apparent. On the whole it is too strong for my liking!!!! ...

Advantages: Uncommon and therefore memborable Disadvantages: Hard to find
...Compared to other 'superbrands', Versace is relatively new and was launched back in 1978. Versace Dreamer, I think, was one of the first fragrances out back in 1996 or so. The bottle is translucent / clear with the Versace logo embossed upon it. It's about 1 inch x 1 inch x 5 inches or so (I have the 30 ml version). It comes in a dark violet/ navy box and has a picture of stars on it. You'd know what I mean if you saw the box - just 'Google' it. ... ...is a gold colour with a pattern embossed. The scent:
Top notes (what you will smell initially):
Juniper and Lily
Middle notes (what you will smell for the first 20 - 30 minutes):
Iris
Base Notes (what you will smell of for the rest of the day):
Tobacco, Amber, Tarragon
I won't lie to you - it's one of the strangest scents I've had but it's one of the nicest! Actually, I think the bets way to put it would be 'unorthodox'. It's warm yet fresh ...

I bought a bottle of this aftershave more by chance than design. Whilst in Italy I wanted to but something to remind me of my holiday but was unable to find anything I liked. then in a shop I thought 'I know I'll buy a bottle of aftershave Italian style.' This smell really does remind me of a classy Italian fragrance - rich, strong and the type of fragrance that compliments a suit on a night out somewhere posh. It is a smell that can be a little ... ...but when it is worn it has a man's smell, not at all girly and quite frankly it makes you feel kind of mature.
Not a fragrance for wearing down the pub with the boys or shopping with the missus but definetely one for important busines meetings or expensive nights out when the champagne will flow. ...

...writings on the tiny bottle: Versace - The Dreamer. I opened it carefully and snifed: it was sweet, jet masculine, It was a scent that was not too powerfull like many mens fragrences, but it was a scent too recon with. A scent too attract...
Looking at my watch, seeing I was almost too late, I put some of it on and drove of. I made it right on time and started the interview feeling confident and I got the job! Just as I was walking away and shoke ... ...it too (maybe that's how Versace meant it ;-) ). A disadvantage is that many people come up to you and say: You smell great. what fragrence is it?
CONCLUSION
Although I summed up a few advantages and disadvantages, it very depends on the person. My opinion is that it is a very good product at a decent price. And a decent price isn't what I normally can say about Versace products ;-)
I hope you enjoyed reading this!

Advantages: Different and intriguing, main notes last a long time Disadvantages: Not for everyday use, most interesting when it's first put on
Quite appropriately named, a somewhat dreamlike and interesting mix of scents. Although I like Dreamer a lot, I find it hard to describe here. Some have described it as masculine smelling, and I can see where they're coming from. (I believe these elements come from tobacco leaves amongst other things, although Dreamer really doesn't smell much like cigarettes). However, there are also flowery, almost feminine elements in there; not over-the-top, ... ...both sensual and sophisticated. (Others have called it pretentious and synthetic, but I don't get that from it).
What would I use it for? Some websites recommend Dreamer for "casual use"- whatever that means- rather than "daytime". Others also mention "evening".
Personally, I'd weight it strongly towards evening use. Much as I like Dreamer, it doesn't strike me as the kind of thing you'd wear day-to-day- in the office, or to uni lectures, for example.

Advantages: Fresh and fruity!! Disadvantages: Doesn't linger very long.
having mixtures of citrus, lavender and cedarwood (mmm might have to try this one next!) then you have white, black, yellow, green, baby rose. baby blue!! Gosh I never knew jeans came in such an assortment of colours!! Each one describes the particular aromas and if you want to know a particular one leave me a message and I will relate it to you, won?t bore all of you with all of it here!!
As well as the Jeans varieties Gianni Verace also advertises Vis Versace, The Dreamer, Blonde, Donna, V?E Versace, Versace L?Homme and Gianni Versaci, on this little label, gosh talk about choice!! I would like to sniff the Yellow Jeans one of these days with its white peach, yellow freesia and mimosa!! I can see me becoming a regular at my local perfume counter!! But for now I am sticking with the Red Jeans.
It is fun, fruity, and just a little funky ...
Advantages: revenge factor as a present Disadvantages: disolves nasal lining
I have to say this is a strong fragrance. It seems all Versace fragrances are on the manly strong side, I suppose that is fair enough seeing Versace himself was heavily into men. Blue Jeans is stronger and darker than the dreamer frangrance and has a slightly evergreen conifer smell to it.
It's the type of smell that sticks in your mind as you feel it burn the back of your throat. The fragrance reminds myself of being ill in a hospital ward and has this disinfectant affect on my mind.
This is the fragrance you get as a present use everyday and splash loads on as you want to get rid of it so not to waste your better fragrances. Or conversly spray around the room after a friend has smoked or farted and you want to get mask that smell quick.
Best advice is to leave it in the package and give it to someone you dont like as ...
