As you might expect Ascent has class. Lightweight at six ounces, it's made of ceramic, stainless steel and a durable alloy called Liquidmetal, finished with hand-sewn leather and a screen of sapphire crystal, a material second only to diamond in hardness.

...The Nokia 8800 is supposed to become the top device in Nokia's fashion line. On the one hand, it is not a Vertu yet but it is not a mass produced device either. Different to Nokia 8910i, the whole attention was drawn to the dimensions of the phone. Just following the last trends, the device was made small and, more importantly, thin (16.5 mm in the thickest part). Using non-rusting metallic parts increases the weight greatly (134 grams). Due to the small size, this weight is felt like a pleasant load in a hand and will impress many men. Women treated the device cooler and considered it a bit heavy. In general, the idea the device is for men prevailed, though it will surely fit a woman's handbag. I'd agree with the opinion and note that about 60 percent of sales will be directed to men.

Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte
www.nokia.co.uk
Outside of stupid-money luxury brand Vertu, you wont find a more upmarket phone than the sapphire. The posher of the new Arte duo, it retains the bullet proof stainless Armour of the 8800 series but sports leather paneling and a gemstone joypad. Theres substance to match its high society style with 3G and a capable 3.2-megapixel snapper, but the 1GB memory and lack of card slot shackle its multimedia potential.

What a great phone!
The Sirocco was excellent but upgrading to this phone was an excellent move. It has the better software that I wanted & the design is even better! Ignore all the idiots who say it has no functionality or isn't worth the money because some cheapo Nokia has similar software etc. They don't get it & never will. Ignoring Vertu etc, this is the most exclusive phone out there.
It's classy in the right sense. Not flashy but stands out due to its simple & excellent design. Pick it up & you feel the quality.
If you want a phone that makes your coffee for you, get an N95 like everyone else. If you want a phone that looks & works fabulously, get an Arte. The Sapphire model is my preference but both look excellent. Just get one!!...
