When I first used this deck I remember thinking how stiff it felt and to me felt quite cumbersome. But with the right slipmat and a bit of polish on the platter, it's a beauty to use!

I don't scratch, but I'm aware of how good this deck is for scratching dues to the design of its tone-arm, which gives amazing tracking in the grooves of the record. It has a strong torque of 2.2kg (I think), which is lighting quick and so allows for more creativity in your mixes especially if you're a turntablist. With its ability to control the start and start time and just allows for more even more creativity.

Its revolutionary ASTS tonearm provides amazing tracking. Only drawback of the straight-tonearm design is that wears your records down quicker due to more force being exerted on them and also, if you're a proper audio head which can hear the difference, the audio is not as great as the S shaped tonearm.

It pitch range is incredible useful as well with a pitch 50% +/- which allow some superfly effects in accapellas, fxs and scratches that you could never achieve before.

So as a whole I recommend this deck for scratching and just straight beat matching. This model has slowly been replaced with Vestax's new model and by the competition of Numark and Stanton which offer even more features now. But with your imagination, this turntable can be used just as creatively and for a lower price, making this deck money well spent.

In all honesty though...I do still prefer the feel of a Technics, so smooth.

Remote pedal facility - The abilty to control other Vestax turntables. Good for hands free mixing and speeding up your mixing.

Externally fitted phono leads - Good as itmeans you can fit better quality audio cables.

Internally fitted power lead

120/240 volts switchable. Can be useful if you move to another country.
