Advantages: Well Built, Good reputation, Disadvantages: speed control
...The technics decks have been known as the "the best decks" for many years, but over the past year there have been many new decks that have been brought out that in my opinon are better that the technics. For example the Vestax PDX-2000 and the Vestax PDX-d3s are in my opinion a lot better that the technics sl-1200 if you compare the starting times the vestax decks are faster the have more pitch control a heavier tracking weight, reverse play, and the PDX-d3s has a digital pitch display. The vestax are not the only decks that are better than technics, the numark tt-2 have got a slower starting time but in every other aspect they are better. So if you are thinking of buying some top of the range decks dont just go for the technics....

Advantages: market leader, most clubs use these, easy to use Disadvantages: parts are quite expensive
...Technics are the most sought after and popular decks on the market, closely followed by vestax. however although vestax are a cracking set of decks, almost every d.j. will notice that most venues are sticking by there guns and leaving technics in the clubs. i think the main reason is that they have always been reliable and are very hard wearing. All though i am not very technically minded, I know that technics do pretty much everything that i need them to. Which is a all a busy d.j. needs. the residual value on these decks is briliant, and they could never be blamed as a bad buy. I know that if mine ever got stolen or lost, i would not hesitate in buying exactly the same decks again. there would be no need to upgrade. (so the Vestax can spin backward at the touch of a button), so what. Dont delay, buy today. you wont be sorry....

Advantages: Very reliable and almost every part is replacable Disadvantages: They are not the best in terms of quality and value for money
...first off, i want to start this review by saying technics are brilliant, on performance they are nearly unbeatable. recently i bought a pair of decks and i was troubled with the question of which ones to buy? well there are 4 pairs of decks that i feel are top of the range, the best decks on the market, so i thought "well i could go for the numark TTx1s, they look cool they have the digital display, they have a large amount of tourque so when your cueing or scratching you can feel the deck trying to pull away from your hand, (trust me a good feel) But i decided no to these, next up was the vestax PDX2000, well vestax are good decks for scratching they are the best only just though, vestax play how you would want a deck to play vestax just feel right but they are not the best and they are pretty ugly things to be honest, next pair...

When I first used this deck I remember thinking how stiff it felt and to me felt quite cumbersome. But with the right slipmat and a bit of polish on the platter, it's a beauty to use!
I don't scratch, but I'm aware of how good this deck is for... more
For years and years most amateur and professional djs would have only used the common direct drive deck from Technics. Every club and DJ were used to the brand name and trusted its reputation. Times are changing!
