Vicks VapoRub

My family swear by Vicks Vapo Rub. Growing up my parents used to use it and gave it to us to use when we had colds, sore throats and coughs. So, I guess you could say I have grown up with this product as always have a pot in my medicine cabinet.

Vicks the brand: The brand Vicks began in the 1890's and it is an american company. You can visit the fun website www.vicks.com and although a bit slow to load is an informative website.

Price: At my local Asda store this product is £3.20 for a 100g tub. I think this is good value for money as it lasts a very long time, months in fact and stays fresh too. You do not need a lot of the product as it is strong.

Product: The Vicks brand produce a vast range of products for cold and cough symptoms and I have found it most effective for decongestent purposes. It is a family friendly brand and produces products from rubs, nasal sprays, medicines, thermometers and inhalers. This product is appropriate for ages 2 plus, and is a rub which as menthol vapors. You can also get this product in regular and lemon.

I have only tried the regular version. I have recently had a very nasty cough and bunged up nose which made me not sleep too well. I alway's reach for this product at this time. I rub a small amount of the product on my chest and neck. It is a strong menthol smelling rub and is strong so you really do not need a lot.

I find that this product relieves symptoms of coughs and colds. It clears nasal passages and helps break up a cough. This product helps me sleep once the sympoms of a cold diminish. The product is a creamy white rub, soft and guey in texture, rubs in very easily.

Ingredients: The Eucalyptus in th product relives catarrh. The rub also includes thymol, nutmeg oil and cedarwood oil. I welcome the smell of this product but am very aware that I wear it at night, as it is quite strong if you wear it during the day.

Conclusion: I love this product and as a family friendly one, I would recommend it to anyone. I will be passing this product down through the generations just like it has been so far. The product is not too pricey as a large tub for the price mentioned above is very good value for money. The product is easy to use and it's results are second to none.

Top Tip! for a cold, give your nose and face a bit of a massage, especially around the eyes as you have pressure points there, this will help relieve congestion.
