Advantages There's one every few blocks! Or so it seems.

Disadvantages Very similar to all the other main offies.

Wine is becoming increasingly more popular in the United Kingdom and you will be able to get a punter’s view on the effect that this is having on our high streets by checking out the local off licences. Firstly, the off licences seem to be consolidating their holdings and expanding at the same time. The Threshers at the end of the road becomes a Victoria Wine and the Oddbins two blocks up becomes a Threshers and so forth.

This wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing if it was not for the fact that the alcoholic offerings of these shops tend to be drawing closer together as well. That is to say - there is less choice. Beer, for example, and yes, I am somewhat bias here, tends to be pushed to the darkest corner of the shop and should you find it at all you will only be able to discover a small pile of the most popular brands.

So, how does Victoria Wine (aka Clone #3) compare to the rest?
You should be able to guess that it is very similar! However, there are some differences that should be mentioned.
For non-wine drinks: Victoria Wine (despite the name of the chain) sits in the middle of the range here - you will be able to find some, but not many, bottles of beer, spirit and soft drinks.
Munchies: Vicky Wine does tend to stock a better range of chocolate snacks and crisps than the rest but, predictably, these are pretty expensive.
Wines: I like the way Vicky Wine label their collection. I am not a wine connoisseur but I do know I like dry, white wine and I am always able to find the category I want with relative ease. The wines are often pretty good to.
Expense: Vicky Wine tends to be more expensive than the Supermarkets (which are increasingly active in the off licence trade) but favourably comparable to the off licence chains.
