Not only does the hair look and feel better but it also dries significantly faster with the ions turned on than without. I would not recommend the VidalSassoon VS880 at all. They look fantastic but are completely useless. It is a sad indictment that an iron and ironing board can produce results that by far exceed a specialist product in a shorter space of time and with a lot less hassle. For me, these hair straighteners are by far my worst purchase of 2007 and a mistake I will not be making again. - there is a two year guarantee which is fab because my last ones (Nicky Clarke) gave up the ghost after just a year so I feel reassured that these ones will last at least two!
- they are ionic which means that they do less damage to your hair which is very reassuring.
The main disadvantage I have found is that the buttons are on the handle and you can easily end up turning the temperature up and down accidentally while holding them. However, I have only done this on the first use and haven't done it since.
I also don't love my hair poker straight, I like it to have a bit of bounce so although I think it would do poker straight if you wanted it, they also do allow for a natural bounce.
