Last year wanting to put items on my Christmas list which would be useful for the new year ahead I put as one gift idea a hairdryer. Not the most exciting of gifts but nonetheless something which would be very handy and would be used most days. On Christmas morning I received a square shaped parcel from my brother and, upon opening was delighted to receive not just a hairdryer but a gift bag filled with equally useful things.

**The Product**

The Sassoon VSDR5804PK1 White Hot Gift Set is a boxed set of items from the ever professional company Vidal Sassoon. This gift set comes pre-packaged in a medium sized cardboard box which is illustrated rather classically with illustrations of the hairdryer inside. Upon sliding open the contents of the box you are met with a number of items which include a white and silver trim hairdryer with a detachable concentrator nozzle, a small brush, three hair sectioning clips and the ever important accessory a white zip up bag to house everything in.

**The Hairdryer**

The hairdryer itself is a 2000w hairdryer meaning that it produces a powerful blast of air, and is I must admit quite noisy in the process. It is the standard size of a normal hairdryer and is white in colour with a silver trim which looks classic and stylish. The hairdryer features an ever important concentrator nozzle to target specific sections of hair and has two speed settings and three variable heat options. These features are easy to use simply slide one of the two switches along the arm of the hairdryer to your intended speed and heat. The hairdryer also has a cool shot which is useful for giving hair that final blast of air, I believe the purpose of which is to make the hair more shiny and to set the intended style.

**Additional Gift Items**

The other items within this gift set are equally useful. The brush has a number of soft bristles which are capped in rubber to ensure that they softly brush through the hair and scalp without scratching. Both the brush and the mirror are white in colour and small in size and therefore are perfect for slotting into your handbag for touching up during the day or as travelling accessories. The three sectioning clips are good for dividing the hair up to blow dry in sections; however they do have a number of small teeth to make them clip into the hair and are therefore quite difficult to take out without pulling.

As mentioned this set comes in a white zip up 'designer' bag. The bag is a leather effect material and is therefore not the real deal but still looks quite stylish both as a travelling accessory or as something to hide everything away in whilst stored in the bedroom. The bag has a built in handle at the top and a long zip which extends to both sides of the bag giving a large opening for slotting the items in easily.

**Guarantee**

Another benefit of this product is that it comes with a two year guarantee which guarantees firstly that the product is of good quality and secondly that you have recourse should the hairdryer fail.

**To Use**

The hairdryer itself is easy to use, simply plug the long cord into the nearest socket and select your settings using the two switches on the handle of the machine. To finish, simply press in the button under the handle of the machine to blast a jet of cool air over the hair. As mentioned, this is a rather noisy hairdryer however it quickly dries the hair. I find that my medium hair can be blasted dry from soaking wet in a couple of minutes. To store, simply unplug the lead from the mains and wrap the cord around the handle of the hairdryer and place back into the zip up bag.

Whilst I did not buy my gift set, I have done some research and this set can currently be purchased online for £29.99 from Amazon with free super saver delivery. Considering the variety of items you get in with this kit it is a bargain.

**My Summary**

I have loved this gift set from the moment I opened it. The hairdryer is of very good quality, and sufficiently dries my hair whilst also styling it into shape. The bag is useful as a means to hide the hairdryer away out of sight when stored on my dressing room table, whilst the mirror and the hairbrush are used daily as they are housed in my handbag during the day. The only bit of this kit which has failed to impress me were the hair sectioning grips as they tend to snag in the hair and are difficult to take out.

**Would I Recommend?**

I would definitely recommend this gift set, particularly as a gift idea for Christmas to make any girl or lady happy. However this gift set would also be perfect just as a pick me up and the price more than justifies this as a little treat.

Overall this is a brilliant gift set from the ever popular Vidal Sassoon and I have hence scored it five stars out of five.
