Advantages Sturdy, comfortable, good range of settings

Disadvantages Diffuser attachment easily detaches!

After the motor in a hair dryer I owned for many years finally gave up I replaced the hair dryer with a Whal 2000 watt ionic dryer. Unfortunately this proved unsuitable as it took such a long time to dry my hair, the hottest setting was alarmingly hot, the cold blast setting more like 'cooler warm' and I also thought the motor sounded annoyingly loud. I have thick wavy long hair which has a tendency to become frizzy when I blow dry it so I like to use a hair dryer with a diffuser attachment as this works to minimize the frizzieness. After careful research my next choice was the Sassoon VSDR5813 DUK 2000 watt ionic diffuser hair dryer which I ordered from Amazon.

When it arrived I was immediately impressed with the quality of the hair dryer and the two attachments, a concentrator nozzle and the round diffuser (13cm diameter). I thought in terms of balance it was well designed and comfortable to hold, the dark charcoal/almost black plastic slightly rubberised to provide a soft grip. The hair dryer is robust yet lightweight, it measures 22cm (32cm when fitted with the diffuser) and has a conveniently long 3m cable. White rocker switches on the side of the handle are clear and certain for selecting settings, there are 2 speed options and 2 heat settings. Two white buttons at the top of the inside of the handle are for a turbo heat option and a cold blast.

Using this hair dryer is just a dream for me, I find it so light to hold and this is a real advantage for drying long hair, with my original hair dryer I often found my wrists ached after drying my hair for a long time. The heat and speed settings work just as I would want them to and I can dry my hair quite quickly. Turbo heat is a good extra boost of heat without being too hot and I find it ideal to apply a little more heat every so often whilst drying. The cold blast option always feels refreshingly cold. There is a red LCD light for when the hair dryer is switched on and a blue LCD light indicates when cold air is selected.

I very much liked the result of ionic drying when I used the Whal hair dryer and with this Sassoon it is as good or possibly even better. Ionic hair dryers dry the hair with 'negative ions' which are said to seal moisture into the hair whilst drying faster. After drying my hair with this hair dryer and diffuser attachment my hair is left feeling soft, silky and without any sign of frizzy ends.

However, after the first couple of months of use I came across a problem. The diffuser became unclipped very easily, it would only take a slight knock or even a sudden movement and the diffuser would fall off and often subsequently roll across the floor. Plenty of exercise but not an efficient hair drying experience. As I use the diffuser at all times I decided the best thing to do was to glue it onto the hair dryer permanently, but if you were wanting to alternate the use of attachments with this hair dryer, the diffuser falling off so easily could become a rather aggravating issue.

The long 3m cable is easily wrapped around the body and handle of the hair dryer, it stores away nicely as it is not too long or heavy.

Sounds good although I don't use hair dryers. It's one of the perks of having a receeding hair line.
