Advantages Amazing sound for the price, small speakers
Disadvantages master volume control on subwoofer, remote control too small
After purchasing a sub 250 pounds DVD player my next mission was to purchase a full 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound System to really experience the DVDs the way they were made to be. After being frightened by some of the prices for the top end pieces of kit, I stumbled across the Videologic Digitheatre and the first thing I checked was the price. I was shocked to see a circa 200 price point, at first thinking that a 0 had been omitted, I went on to check at a few other places, it was reality and not a dream. I swiftly read a few reviews and after being assured, placed an order shortly afterwards. Suffice to say when the package arrived I was most keen to test it out, and installation was a doddle as the manual was so simply laid out and had all the required information in an easily accessible format. The remote control being the size of a credit card is a bit annoying , easy to lose and easily runs low on batteries. The kit comes with a decoder and subwoofer+amplifier. It delivers amazing sound for the price and really does the home cinema thing for any average to large sized living room. The only bad points are the small remote and the fact that you have a master volume control on the subwoofer which pre defines the thresholds that can be controlled by the remote. A true step up from the days of pro logic surround. Has to be heard.
