Relatively unkown a few years ago, Viewsonic items exploded onto the scene, and can now be seen just about anywhere. It was just over two years ago, that I bought my viewsonic PDa/Pocket PC.
Having looked at some of the more popular models, I stumbled across the Viewsonic V35. It was smaller and lighter, and a good bit cheaper, but promised to deliver the same power as some of its more expensive rivals. One great deal from the shop later, coupled with a decent warranty extension and I was off home with my new PDA.
Straight away I was astounded by the speed and capabitlites of this minature wonder of technology. It cam bundled with packages like Word, Excel and Windows Media Player. It has a fast 300mhz intel x-scale processor and 64mb SDRAM. The battery life is excellent, upto two weeks between charges depending on use. The touch screen coupled with the touch screen technology meant the system was easy to get to grips with. Soon I realised that this tiny machine was capable of a lot more. Sit it in its cradle, and wire up the USB to your PC and download endless games and utilities.
Here is an example of the functions I used my PC for. I use word for writing my CV, business plans and writing these reviews while I'm away from home. I use excel for account and invoicing. With the use of an SD card the PDA quickly becomes an MP3 player, or you can watch MPEG Videos on the move. You also use it for looking at your photo's from any digital camera that uses an SD Card, pictures look great on 3.5inch Lcd screen. You can use it as a remote control for anything with the programable infrared function. You can download a whole lot more, with endless games and utilties available. Most importantly it does everything the more expensive PDA's do, but this one fits easily in your pocket unlike its chunkier big brothers.
I've tried to look for faults in this PDA andthe only one I could find was that it is not WiFi compliant, though in all honesty, most PDA's are not anyway. Also I broke a button (put too much pressure on a button, my fault), but Viewsonic where happy to replace my PDA free of charge. Also as with all Pocket PC's getting used to the touch screen keyboard takes some practice.
If you are looking for a cheaper and smaller alternative to your laptop, look no further than this little beauty. Do not however expect miracles, it is not intended to replace your laptop or desktop PC. Final word, Enjoy!

I purchased my Viewsonic V35 pda because i was looking for a fairly powerful pda to run games, internet applications and act as a media player, also i didnt have a large budget so the v35 was perfect.
In the box was the pda, the manual, a cradle to connect to your pc, and a usb cable to connect to your pc, also a small pouch to protect the pda from damage. When i saw there was no ac adapter i was fairly worried, but soon realised that the pda would ... ...tried to get help from viewsonic to fix this but they no longer manufacture them so they refused. I also found out while searching the internet for a solution that many other people have had this problem with the v35, so it is not just me.
In conclusion i would advise against the Viewsonic V35, it may seem very good value for money, but you will be forced to pay for a new pda very soon when the screen corrupts. It is not worth it. ...
