Advantages: Friendly on the eyes, DVI and Analogue input, flat screen Disadvantages: Looks.
...I was looking for a 17-inch monitor that was good on the eyes when sat in front of for long periods of time. Not that I would advise anyone to do that, but my girlfriend was just starting her Computer Animation course at university in September 2000.
After looking around for what was available I decided to buy the 'ViewSonic OptiSync PF77'. It had received a number awards and I knew that ViewSonic was a very respectable brand. It cost me £220 at the time, which as I recall was not that bad at the time.
Starting with it's looks I have to say that it is ok to look at but nothing I would call special, but then in my opinion very few CRT monitors actually look good! It does have a rather large bit of plastic at the base of the screen where the menu buttons are found, however the buttons are actually the same level as the casing and don...

Advantages: HD, Widescreen, High Resolution, many features & security Disadvantages: NONE TO DATE.
... ViewSonic VX1940w 19" LCD HD Widescreen
Purchased this monitor from PC World, it cost me £150, which was a bargain indeed, its super powerful performance and video response of 2ms, puts it top of the chain, with many added features such as 1680 x 1050 HD Resolution and 3000:1 dynamic contrast ration.
The monitor itself is a slim stylish bezel design without taking up valuable desk space... The high neck and floating head design accentuate the visual experience, although you can also but a wall of desk ark to completely remove the monitor from the desk fact. The design gets a 10/10.
Another bonus to this monitor is that it is Windows Vista Verified, and has many security features such as, the Kensington Security port, which deters theft, and prevents your settings from been altered, very useful, if you have a family...

Advantages: Quality 19" Monitor which is Bright, Sharp with Colourful images, 2ms Response Time Disadvantages: A bit more expenisve than your average monitor, but worth it!
...Took me a while to decide to take the plunge from my beloved 17" Dell CRT, Which through the 3 years, besides its huge rear-end never warranted a reason to be replaced. But me being a gadget freak and my friends wondering why I still used a CRT decided now is the time.
I again before buying anything researched thoroughly on the internet to be sure I'm spending my money wisely and compared to my friends had the best TFT available within a reasonable price bracket. TFT's have come along way since I last remembered and are competing with CRTs with performance and cost.
I first found the ViewSonic vx924 (not the vx922 which this model is) and was blown away when I saw it in the show room, looked a remarkable product of great quality and performance, even the guy at the showroom said he owned this model and its never let him down...
