Advantages Overall combat is very fun

Disadvantages Alot of repetition

The Story is two Viking gods have decided to go to war, this has plunged the entire Viking world into war. You play as a helper of the gods whom must stop the war. You will spend most of your time either gathering allies or chopping limbs off your foes.

The game is divided up into three islands, when you begin each area will be overrun by enemy Viking. You must then set about liberating villages and allies to help you take control back from the enemy.

If you find enough allies, it is easy to amass a large army capable of destroying any enemy stronghold. In very impressive LARGE battles.

But before your army engages in the large battle, you will be required to complete several side quests. From finding an item to summoning a dragon to help in future fights. What's really fun about this game is you can actually see your army grow, as you complete quests. More and more allies will occupy a nearby village.

Unfortunately repetition is the main crux of the game, gathering allies and summoning dragons are pretty much all you do! So by the third island, it will get boring.

Your character is fully upgradable; he can buy new combat moves or unlock powerful spells to defeat the enemy. Throughout the game there are hidden skulls to collect, in the xbox360 version they unlock achievements. But for the PS3 they have no purpose what so ever?!?

The combat in Viking can be awesome with limb chopping melees using both your axe and sword. But then it can become so slow and boring at the start of the game. One thing I can not fault is the stealth sections in Viking, if an enemy hasn't seen you stealth will activate and you can sneak around to deal a fatal blow. Once you've unlocked some key combat moves the combat becomes immensely enjoyable, the swift moves are awesome. The finishing moves on bosses are blindingly copied from god of war, but they still are as fun as ever. The game took me about 10 hours to complete, not a long game.

Once a large battle has begun the game really gets going, not only must you hack your way through the hundreds of enemies on screen but you must defeat the bosses such as giants. And once your dragons enter the battle for fire support, it is cool.

Viking is a good game in places but it fails to impress at times. The violent kills never get boring but the game can experience slow down in the large battles.

Unless they changed it for the Xbox, that isn't the plot. More info is needed to make it a helpful review.
