I purchased a Vileda Magic Mop as I thought it would be an efficient, quick solution to dirty floors
throughout the house and Vileda is a name you can trust. Unfortunately, this mop does not come up to their usual standards.
It took about ten minutes to figure out how to squeeze it out and then it took brute force to actually do it. Even then it did not wring out the water very well and I had to use my hands to squeeze it out properly.
At last I tried to mop the floor, but found that the patterned scourer part of the sponge left a pattern on the floor.
I had only mopped about one square metre of floor when the sponge detatched itself from the sticky pads on the back and I was left with the option of buying a new mop head, or hiding the so-called "magic mop" in the back of the cupboard.
I know cheap mops don't last long but even ...

I recently bought a Vileda Rapid Attractive mop from Tesco and to start with i was very pleased because it was easy to use. However, within 3 weeks the part holding the head to the pole snapped. Prior to this the head fell off fairly regularly. This was not possible to fix and i had to claim a refund direct from Vildeda. Fortunately the refund was issued quickly on receipt of the bottle top.There is obviously a weak point at the head and, as the mop cost £19.99, I expected something a bit more robust. The actual mop was easy to use but i have had to go back to using my Vileda Magic mop which i have had for 5 years and had no problems! ...
Advantages: No separate bucket, no dirty water slopping around, very easy Disadvantages: Have to buy lots of disposable floor cloths, or wash grotty ones in machine
No mess, no fuss, I was really pleased with it until the head brackets broke and it was not 'mendable'.
Vileda are difficult to track down on the internet, but their Customer Care no. is 0845 769 7356. They explained they were aware of the weakness and they replaced my mop in about 4-5 days, so EXCELLENT customer service.
New mop is better designed and definitely stronger. Looks like Vileda have acknowledged that their first 'model' had a weak part in the design, so they've improved it - hopefully it's now less likely to break, and that was the only problem with it that I've found.
The other good thing is that you can put whatever floor cleaner in it you like - you're not restricted to buying their own brand liquid in their own specially shaped containers, as you are with other similar floor mops on the market.
