Villa Park is the home of the Aston Villa, without doubt the best team in the Midlands (although that’s no great achievement considering the competition
Here’s all you need to know about it.
Although not technically a new ground, Villa Park has been dramatically redeveloped in recent years. It currently has a capacity of around 43000 and consists of four stands, The Holte End, Doug Ellis Stand, Trinity Road Stand and the North Stand. The Holte End has by far the best atmosphere. Most of the season ticket holders, especially the “lads” sit here and it is normally close to capacity (around 13000) and very noisy. The Trinity Road and Doug Ellis stands are more for the family and only get full for the big games. The Trinity Road also caters for disabled supporters. The North Stand is for both home and away supporters, the away supporters being in the lower tier where up to 3,000 fans can be accommodated. If demand requires it, then part of the Doug Ellis Stand can also be allocated to away fans.
The ground being relatively big means it only generates a great atmosphere when full, Villa fans only seem to really get behind the team when they are doing well. I went up for the Southampton game last season during a bad spell of results and it was very quiet. When it is full and the Villa are playing well, it’s an amazing atmosphere and very intimidating for opposing teams.
Another plus point is the two large video screens that are installed in opposite corners of the ground that show the game, including highlights, meaning you’ll never miss a minute of the action.
Ticket prices are roughly the same for each part of the ground, costing between £20-£25, and can normally be bought on the day, or via Internet or phone prior to the game. Children pay around a fiver for the family section and £10 for anywhere else in the ground, which is excellent value. I wouldn’t recommend trying to buy via phone on match days, even if it’s not that match you want tickets for. I spent around 30 minutes waiting in a queue and eventually gave up.
The ground can be seen from the M6, if you are coming from the North side of Birmingham. You want to leave the M6 at Junction 6 follow the signs for Birmingham (NE). Turn right at the roundabout (fourth exit), and you’ll find the ground is well sign posted from here.
There is a big car park at the ground but if you can’t park here there are plenty of match day car parks on the way to the ground which cost around a fiver to leave your car there.
If you go by train, change at Birmingham New Street and get to either Aston or Witton station. Witton station is nearer to the away end and is only a few minutes walk, from the ground. There are extra trains laid on to the ground on matchdays.
The food is what you’d expect at a football ground. Loads of burger vans outside and plenty of places inside the ground to get food and drink, although they do quite often run out of hot food towards the end of half time so be quick. Also the quality of the food inside the ground leaves a lot to be desired so it’s best to buy something from outside.
Well that’s about all you need to know for a visit to Villa Park, if I’ve missed anything I will add it later.
Advantages: Big Ground, Easy To Get To, Good View Disadvantages: Small Facilities
...thought that the trip to Villa Park would be the one. Villa at the time were having trouble scoring goals, they weren’t playing as well as they could. We were on a bit of a high as the game marked the debut of our record signing Dean Ashton. Would the £3 million quid be worth it?
On our journey to West Brom we had seen Villa Park across the urban motorway sprawl. It certainly looked an impressive ground. Once you actually get there you’ll be surprised ... ...a large city you’ll find Villa Park in an area that I wouldn’t say was hugely residential. It’s quite easy to get to and the traffic for a Saturday was amazingly non-existent. Parking wise I know a lot of people park in the nearby leisure centre. This is fine but an absolute nightmare to get out of. We found a small car park about 10 minutes walk from the ground. For £3 it was small but very easy to get out of and we didn’t have to wait long to get ...

Advantages: Very Accessible Disadvantages: Team (sometimes)
Villa park is more than a satisfactory football ground, although you could probably have told that as the FA and England have used it in the past for FA Cup games and international games.
I have to be honest, the atmosphere wasn't particularily electric, and there mainy occasions where the away teams fans out sang the home team. Even though the away team where winning (as usual i might add), its still nice to hear the fans encourage their team for ... ...a big advantage of visiting Villa park is how accessible it is. With Birmingham being the second largest city in England you may have thought getting to Villa park would have been fairly difficult.
If your looking to watch a premiership match, where the home team are all but definatley going to win, i'm afraid i wouldn't pick villa park just yet, although the team are looking like they are hitting good form at the present with a good win against ...

Advantages: Impressive stadium, Easy to get to Disadvantages: Expensive
...is the home of Aston Villa Football Club, of the English premier League.
The stadium is situaited just off the M6 in the east of Birmingham.
Finding the stadium was simple, and there was plenty of parking near by for around £3 a car.
Tickets are available on the day for all but the biggest games, but prices are high.
Adult tickets cost between £15 and £25, under 16's and over 65's get in for half price.
The stadium itself is quite spectacular, ... ...pitch. The atmosphere in the ground isn't great though. Maybe this is because the fans didn't have much to shout about against Middlesborough last saturday! The team isn't a very entertaining one, but if your lucky you should get to witness the skills of David Ginola, which may be worth the admission alone.
Unfortunatly he hasn't been playing much recently, after taking penalties against Jeremy Clarkson in the car park a few weeks ago! ...

Advantages: Fantastic atmosphere when a full house, great day out Disadvantages: tickets can be pricey, especially if you want to take the whole family
I have always been a Villa supporter, and this season could finally afford my first season ticket. I do admit the price of one has always put me off before, but decided that my delightful football team could put a slightly deeper hole in my pocket this season.
If you've got the mouth and don't mind coming away hoarse fron the ground then the Holte End is the place to be, when full the Holte has an electric atmosphere (and the 3rd March should be ... ...you get paid weekly.
Villa Park is a good day out, i just wish and i bet so do half of the other fans that we had a much bigger turn out for some of the smaller games, nethertheless the fans never let the players down.
Villa Park is also good for companies taking people out with various deals they do on hospitality suites and also for maybe a special occasion in the family.
anyway enough of my waffling, get yourself down to Villa Park and see ...

Villa park was the most beautiful football stadium in the world. The Trinity Road Stand was an absolutley amazing piece of architecture with its stained glass windows and marble motifs it had an air of grandness which sought to inspire you as you walked up the steps or intimidate opposition fans. Its like a old castle. I was so happy when the Holte end's rebuild in 1995 was styled to match the Trinity by incorporating the brick work and the fleets ... ...ripped down. The stand was on the small side and wooden but the front was absolutley beautiful surley a larger stand could be built around the building for not much cash. Inside the atmosphere is lacking in recent times as there is a bit of a downer on the whole club at the moment. I'd love all the stands to be styled like the Trinity. It should have been listed building. Arsenals blandish clock end is. Also Ibrox's from end is very good too. ...

Advantages: Fantastic stadium, experienced manager, several exciting players Disadvantages: Lack of money for transfers, inconsitent goalkeeper
There is no greater feeling than that when standing in the Holte End at Vila Park. The atmosphere is electric and when a goal is scored the whole stadium shakes with excitement. There is also fantastic facilities available for families, as there is now a family enclosure in the Trinity Road stand reserved for families. The enclosure itself accomodates players whe they are injured, providing the children with oppurtunities to meet their heroes.
Overall, VillaPark is a fantastic venue which can be enjoyed by people of all ages! As for the team, a few improvements could be made during the summer transfer window. Our main disadvatage at the moment seems to be our current goalkeeper, who has a habit of making costly mistakes. The main query is why but a new keeper in the summer transfer window, when we have a fantastic 2nd goalkeeper ...

Advantages: Team Spirit is outstanding Disadvantages: Small squad
It's become so hard to watch Villa play these days. As a major villa fan, I have always loved watching them and always believed that our standard of football, although not quite up to Man Utd, was attractive and exciting, but recently Villa have become a one man show. Now Paul Merson is my hero, but he's not exactly the youngest man on our team and what are we gonna do when we can't depend on him anymore? We need new players to strenghten our squad if we want to be serious premiership contenders. Doug Ellis has to put his hands in his pockets if he has any ambition to make this club a success. It's really sad to see cos I think a few more players and we would have a really good squad. We have proven that the spirit is there, it's what has kept us in the top 7 or so for the past 5 years. This combined with a few quality players could make ...

gareth has played exceptionally well in the last england match against france.the youngster from villapark looked a rock at the back and looks a better bet than phil neville in the left back position. he is only nineteen but has showed maturity beyond his years in recent matches for his country and his work rate is terrific.i can see this boy going on to become a great star for england if he stays fit in years to come and may be a vital piece of englands future world cup and euro plans. ...
