Advantages Advantages Big range---student discount---Offers---good stocks

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cost---usually restricted range of special offers

There was a hall of residence at Uni known as the Virgin Megastore. This one though is wholly different. My local VM in Cardiff is at the centre of our very own capital building. No sign of a Welsh George Bush yet though. Over two floors, the store stock the latest in CD's, DVD's, Video's, Computer Gaming and Magazines. There is even quite an extensive vinyl section for all us disc jocks. On walking in through the swooshing automatic doors, one is presented with an array of all the new album and single releases. These, and other chart entries usually have a lower price than older CD's that ... more

Advantages Advantages Great shop, selection, sales, bargains

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some prices

Virgin Megastore A couple of years ago in Milton Keynes we had a new part built onto our already existing shopping centre. The old shopping centre was good but this new bit has made it a whole lot better. The old shopping centre had most high street names, but the new part now has even more, including Virgin Megastore. -The Shop- The shop is very clean, all the shelves are nice and clean, no dust or broken CD cases etc. The shop is bright, not dim like a lot of stores and it plays good music. It plays a wide selection of music for all tastes which is great as all sorts of people will go in ... more

Advantages Advantages A good overall range of stock ,the occasional bargain though you have to search them out.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Eye-watering high prices for the unwary, lack of imports, store I recently visited was cramped and dirty.

i've been a customer of Virgin since back in days pre CD when the closest store I had was based in Bull St Birmingham and involved a thirty mile round trip from Wolverhampton on public transport , but was always worth it as I could purchase a wide range of Japanese Import vinyl at reasonable prices. That was back in 1981-1984....ahh those were the days! Well things have changed since then an Virgin have moved with the times having relocated to Corporation St in Birmingham and now having opened another "Mega-Store" (whatever that is?) in the Pavillions Shopping Centre in High St . Birmingham ... more

Advantages Advantages A pretty complete range of goods and services

Disadvantages Disadvantages Most other things lol

I wonder, hehe, how many sex crazed Ciaoers I managed to deceive (or perhaps fool would be a better word as I'm not the deceptive type) with this title. Not that I deny being a sex crazed Ciaoer myself, although I'm not going to admit it either, you're just going to have to judge me how you will … I'm afraid I'm not talking about curvaceous brunettes who nobody has had a chance to "Get at", well why not put it bluntly; I'm talking about shopping and more specifically, a shop, that I tend to find myself standing in quite frequently whenever I go up town. I'll start by being straight to the ... more

Advantages Advantages Stylish, serious about their product, good value in certain areas.

Disadvantages Disadvantages DVDs are still expensive in the bigger Megastores, and they still haven't rid themselves of the cheap-looking designs that remain from the 1980s and 1990s

Virgin used to be a bit of a joke. In the dark days of High Street retailing, during the early-to-mid 1980s, they were little more than a glorified Independent chain. Their flagship store in London's Oxford Street was decent enough, but overall they were hardly a threat to the (then) mighty HMV. The latter part of that decade saw Virgin's profile and standing within the business drop to such a point that outside help was sought - to spruce up the Virgin image, and bring their stores up to scratch in all areas. The merger with Our Price was one aspect of the gradual but effective rebuilding ... more
