Review of "Virgin Vie Spa Range"
This is a review of Virgin Vie's 'Buff & Polish Salt Scrub' from their 'Therapy Spa' range. I have been using this product for about 3 months after being persuaded to buy it at a Virgin Vie party I attended at the local Rugby League club (they were raising funds for new kits) and would like to share the miracle with you...(",) The Background (",)
For anyone that is not familiar with the Virgin Vie brand, the first Virgin Cosmetics Company store was opened by Richard Branson in October 1997 in Oxford Circus, London. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength and you can now purchase Virgin Vie products online, via the Independant Consultants, at Virgin Via parties as well as through the stores which are listed at the bottom of this review. The mission was to create beautiful, premium quality cosmetics at an affordable price. Their service mission is just as simple - if you can't get to us they'll come to you !
(",) The purchase (",)Fairly straightforward really. I was invited to a Virgin Vie party at the local rugby ground to raise funds for new kits. Armed with my glass of wine and nibbles, I took my seat and an hour or so later I smelt like the perfume counter in Selfridges and had made my first Virgin Vie purchase - 'Buff and Polish Salt Scrub' ! It was the friend that invited me that convinced me to buy - she claimed it worked miracles with your skin and once I had tried some of the scrub on my hand (courtesy of the Virgin Vie consultant and her bag of treasures) I was sold.
(",) The Product (",)The scrub arrived a week later in a glass jar with a blue, 'swing top' lid, for want of a better description. 500g of cream coloured 'goo'. The scrub smells divine - like a perfect blend of honey, coconut and marmalade and has an almost watery texture but accompanied by smooth sand.
I decided to test out my new purchase the following evening and after running a nice warm bath and lighting a couple of candles (to set the mood you understand), I was ready for action ! The jar advises that the product should be massaged into damp skin using large circular movements which is exactly what I did - and the miracle happened ! It's going to be difficult to explain exactly what this product does to your skin but it certainly felt softer than I could ever remember and almost greasy but without the grease - 'polished' is the word Virgin Vie use to describe this effect.I always start with my feet and ankles and work my way up to my neck - you have to stop there though as this product is not recommended for use on the face. After about 2 mins of massaging, the sand doesn't feel quite so prominent and that's when you know it's time to rinse off. The miracle continues even when you get out of the bath - any clothes that touch your skin feel strangely close and even by boyf commented on how smooth my legs felt after the 'V Vie' treatment !
According to Virgin, the cause of this miracle is down to the ingredients:Perfectly sized salt particles to exfoliate, stimulate and revive.
May Chang essential oil to revitalise the senses.
Vitamin E to nourish.
JoJoba, Sweet Almond and Evening Primrose Oils to moisturise.
(",) The Facts (",)At approx £12 for 500g, this product isn't cheap but I've had my tub for about 3 months now and use it about once a fortnight and I still have some left. The scrub is not suitable for use on the face and is dermatologically tested in accordance with Virgin Vie's strict stance of animal testing - I have extracted the statement below from their website:
" At Virgin Cosmetics we are committed to helping to bring about an end to animal testing for cosmetics and toiletries.
To this end, we:
Do not test finished products on animals.
Do not test any of our ingredients on animals.
Do not commission tests on animals, to be carried out on our behalf.
Safety is of paramount importance to us and all of our products undergo rigorous safety assessments by qualified scientists followed, where applicable, by supervised testing on human volunteers"
Virgin Vie Cosmetics can be found in any of the stores listed below, via the website (www.virgin.com/cosmetics) or from one of the Independant Consultants - telephone 0845 300 80 22). If you haven't already been to a party, I'd recommend combining the purchase of this product with your first experience of a Virgin Vie party - they're great fun, cost you nothing and the hostess gets free gifts as a % of sales on the night. The consultant will also perform a range of beauty treatments for guests at no charge and provide samples of the products for testing purposes.Churchill Square, Brighton (01273) 207778

(",) Conclusion (",)A perfect gift for someone special who doesn't normally treat themselves and the ideal excuse to host a Virgin Vie party at your house and invite all your friends round. That way you can try all the products you have read about at no cost and with no obligation in the comfort of your own home. This one is a must buy !
