Virtua Fighter 5 on the PS3 is the latest in the Virtua Fighter series. I've always been a fan of the Virtua fighter games. I played the first Virtua Fighter game on the PC when it was first released and loved the 3D fighting aspect of the game.

Virtua Fighter 5 follows the same scenario with a much improved overall package. Before even playing the game I had a feeling this would be good as it's on the PS3. The game has 17 fighters which include characters from the previous Virtua Fighters and includes two new characters, El Blaze and Eileen. El Blaze is Mexican and a fighting champion he is quick and has a sort of Mexican wresting fighting style. Eileen is from China and has a Monkey Kung Fu style of fighting. The game offers cool customisation of the characters which enable you to select from various costumes designs and also items that you can attach on various parts of the characters body. In the game you don't only win by defeating opponents in battle but you can also compete and win prizes which will earn you money within the game. This lets you then purchase items within the game to enable customisation of your player. Also a new addition to Virtua Fighter 5 is 'Offensive Moves', which allow you to approach opponents easily from the side. This is a very good addition to the game as it allows you to be more strategic while beating the hell out of your opponents.

The controls are easy to grasp even if you have never played any of the Virtua Fighters before. Just three buttons you need to know about to start with, punch, kick and block. Then you can master more complex moves by using a variety of combinations of these simple moves.

The graphics of the game are amazing, with more detail on each character and movably smooth. Sega pushed the envelope further with this game and the HD graphics prove this.

The sound is similar as the previous Virtua Fighters, with funky tunes and sound effects.

Overall I love playing Virtua Fighter 5 on the PS3 even though there isn't many major changes to the game. The graphics simply make you want to keep on playing and battle your friends. There is one downside I should mention that is there's no online game play option available, which is sad as this would have made the game so much better. Nowadays playing online is a must with all games as it makes gaming more exciting when you're competing against the best of the best all around the world. I would though recommend Virtua Fighter 5 on the PS3 it's an excellent game if you don't mind not having the ability to play online.
