5. When going to purchase a new PS2 game I had no intention of buying a tennis game I had always found them slow, unrealistic and the graphics had always left a little to be desired. But after browsing the shelves Virtua tennis jumped out at me and in the end I was with little doubt about what my choice was to be. And how glad was I that I made that choice. Virtua tennis 2 is a gem! There are multiple game modes in which you can play as one of the top names in tennis including Tim Henman, the Williams sisters, Lindsay Davenport or Carlos Moya and also invent your own Male and female characters and taken on the world tour. The world tour part of the game is incredibly addictive and kept me hooked for hours. Your male and female participant start off ranked 400th in the world and you must train them and enter tournaments to increase their rankings until they are top of the pile. Training is done in various mini games which each work on one of the four areas of your game, serving, volleying, stroke and footwork and as you work your way up the rankings increasing your players skills is essential to win the big competitions. Doubles is also played in which you must team up with a top star to help you win the tournaments, and move up the ladder.

As you win the tournaments and earn money various shops open up which offer you the opportunity to buy new, rackets, clothes, shoes and accessories as well as a host of top venues that can be played in tournament mode. Tournament mode plays a lot like the arcade version of this game in which you chose your player and work your way through the quarters, semis and eventually the final.
The only down point I could find is the price, £40 when brought new.

An all round great game that will keep you hooked for hours.

I'm desperate to get hold of this for dreamcast, but just can't seem to find it anywhere. Matt

Progresing through the rankings and buying bonus stuff sounds appealing. Decent first opinion too.
