Visioneer OneTouch 9020 USB

Advantages: Good for Windows XP, but who has XP anymore ?
Disadvantages: No driver for windows OS newer than XP

...I had bought a Visioneer Onetouch 9220 USB and it worked just fine. When Microsoft came out with Windows Vista (yes, our PC is getting old and needed to be replaced), this Onetouch does not have a driver for Vista. So after much frustration, I have to toss the Visioneer Onetouch to the garbage bin, because Visioneer does not provide a driver. I will never ever again buy any product from Visioneer, a company that just say "out of production" and does not care about their customers. ...I bought this from Maplins at the end of 2007 as I have a huge amount of music to store and I just didn't feel comfortable saving it on my laptop as it would slow it down too much and might even fill up the laptop memory. I originally set out to get the 1TB option (1000 GB) but it was out of stock. Being as impatient as I am I bought the next best thing, the 750 GB. On opneing the box, everything was clear. There was the power cable (with UK and European plug adaptors), the USB cable, instruction booklet and the external drive itself. So far, so good. I plugged it all in and switched it on. The installation software is built into the drive and it took a few minutes for everything to be installed onto my computer and for it to be ready to use. Advantages: one button, reliability, lot of software
Disadvantages: my system wants to boot from it

...Device is solid and reliable, case well protects the hard drive (dropped it once and nothing happens, just a scuff mark). On the front panel you will find one button, it's being used for backup of the data. With the hard drive you will get various software, the most important will be Retrospect Express HD, which backups and restores the data. Through the applications there is also a possiblity to protect the drive by setting a password, manage efficiency or change the OneTouch button function. This hard drive is perfect for storing large amount of videos and music, because it ts external it is very easy to share your files with friends. One small thing that I didn't like is that I have to turn it off after starting a computer, otherwise computer will try to boot the system from it.
