I have owned 4 digital cameras, this being my first since it is definately classified as a beginners camera. I do not regret buying it because at the time I had very little money and 50 USD was the price at walmart, so I was sold. However, if you want to skip ahead and not end up having to buy two cameras, I would reccommend something a little better. If you have your heart set on the brand Vivitar, they have other cameras at good prices that for 30 USD more, you get double the features. This camera takes very low quality pictures and I have some examples if you'd like to see. Also, another negative was I was never able to figure out how to use the flash on this camera. My friend figured it out one day and we never figured it out again. Also, there is no zoom. When you're looking for a camera, OPTICAL ZOOM is very important, not digital. Digital ruins the quality of the picture awhile optical safely enlarges it. I also reccomend getting a camera with a minimum of 2 MP (mega pixels) for quality purposes. I have owned 3 vivitars, this one stopped turning on after 6 months of use, the 2nd one I dropped and it broke, and the 3rd one didn't turn on after the first week. As of now I have a Nikon Coolpix 2200, which I have written a review for, and I think it is the best quality you can get for not a lot of money.
This is a good camera if you don't ever plan on printing pictures. It gives OKAY qualuty pictures, but nothing worthy of showing to the family. In other words, it's a beginners camera and is intended just for fun. I have dropped this camera many times and it handled it great.
This is not a good camera for taking far away pictures, fine detail pictures, anything in poor light, and for some reason when you look through the viewfinder it takes the picture differently than how you saw it...like....in a different frame.
Overall, I wouldn't reccommend this camera.

Thanks for the insight. How much do they cost. Are they a rip off? Sean
