I've had my mobile for a couple of years now, it s a Sagem MC920. Now I know it's not cutting edge. In fact it's not even a bit blunt now, it's out of date and that's a fact. But, I didn't expect the lack of help I got from the girl who (barely) served me in the Vodaphone shop in Buchannan St in Glasgow.
When I went in, I asked if they could get me a new battery, as mine wasn't holding a charge for any length of time anymore. I hadn't even got the phone out of it's case, when she finished typing on her computer and asked me how old the phone was. When I said a couple of years, I was informed, that their supplier didn't keep these batteries any more, and that if I wanted them to order me one, it would be at least £30. She then started down the "why don't you just get a new handset" route. Apparently it's just not worth buying a battery on it's own. Get a whole phone and you'll actually save money !!!
Now like I said earlier, my little phone isn't cutting edge, but I don't care, it's small, it's got all my numbers in it, and it works (bar the battery problem). I don't feel the need for a colour screen, or photo messaging , or video messaging. I want to be able to call someone and ask them to go for a drink, I want to be able to call someone and tell them if I'm going to be late meeting them. That's all. Nothing fancy, no photos, no orchestral polyphonic ringtones, I've got a tinny version of La Cuceracha, and damn it' I like it that way.
Anyway, I declined the offer to spend £100 on a new phone and thought I'd try somewhere else.
When I asked in the Carephone Warehouse, they told me that they didn't stock batteries, but pointed me in the direction of the Savoy Centre, where there is a wee woman with a unit upstairs, who sells mobile accesories, so that's where I went. £10 later and my phone is as good as new, and it's a Sagem battery.
Thank you Carphone Warehouse for being honest and not trying to sell me something I didn't want. Thank you for pointing me in the direction of the unit in the Savoy Centre.
Thank you to the woman in the Savoy Centre for selling what I wanted at a realistic price.
Vodaphone......thanks but no thanks.

I agree with you there... Carphone Warehouse are miles better, that's where I got my phone. Vodafone is where I got my sim from though and they had me filling in forms the minute I walked in the door! Good op!
