My vw PASSAT 1.9 Tdi se 130 Bhp
Advantages: Cheap to run Disadvantages: Starting in the cold
Hi
I purchased my passat tdi a year ago, i had problems with starting it in the winter
months, and found the reciepts from the previous keeper in the glove box, he had spent over £1500 on trying to fix the problem witn new injectors, new heater plugs
and various other things, i can't keep it in my drive as it doen't seem to start and i end up haveing to tow start it, but then i found the solution, when you first turn the ignition you hear a swirting ... ...back and forth until the swirting sound stops, do it one more time, count to 10, and put your foot to the floor it should start like a new car, great value for money, i got mine on a 2003 for £2500 and i fill it once a month, also for a 2.0 tdi 130 bhp really cheap insurance

VW PASSAT 20V TURBO SPORT (2nd Hand Purchase)
Advantages: BUILD QUALITY, RELIABILITY,VALUE FOR MONEY Disadvantages: Near side lower ball joints don't last due to the state of our AMAZING ROADS
BEST CAR THAT I HAVE OWNED
I bought my VW Passat 20v Turbo Sport some 2 +years ago 2nd hand , the car was originally bought by a leasing company from new.
Fully dealer serviced and looked after, the person that ordered it had all the usual extras fitted , so I benefited from their good taste without being out of pocket!!
AMAZING PERFORMANCE!
EXCELLENT ROAD HOLDING, but only with NEW REAR SHOCKS FITTED as they wear out gradually and you don't ... ...as is the AIR CON and so usually NEVER ANY PROBLEMS.
Power steering is precise , I was recommended to have Brigestone Turanza ER300's, this really improved the front end handling and ride, road noise ETC. (£50 a corner)
DON'T BUY BUDGET TYRES AS THEY ARE A FALSE ECONOMY, THEY DON'T LAST and CAUSE BAD HANDLING.
I generally keep my cars a long time (until they die on me)
The Last one was surprise, surprise a 1990 VW Passat Estate (From New), 15 ...

Not quite the car it should be
Advantages: safe Disadvantages: economy
I bought this car a year ago now and have been very disapointed many levels.
Yes it is spacious, yes of course it is safe and yes it drives ok and is reliable.
So why have i rated it poor? For a number if reasons really, it is boring, unresponsive, very fuel thirsty (especially for a car that says its not!). The biggest problem i have found is the inate lack of power in gears 3 and 4, which in effect makes the car sluggish and a struggle up hills ... ...that it should not.
I am starting to think that perhaps my car is faulty, as all others seem to love the car, maybe my next service will show up something!
As far as i am concerned, the literature that comes with the car is wrog and it should read 36mpg!! (combined - and no, i do not thrash it!!) ...

Another reliable VW
Advantages: new 2.0 litre diesel technology Disadvantages: Severe turbo lag.
I've always been a lover of VW's and this one is my best so far. The load capacity is great and with the new 2.0 diesel engine nothing's a chore. There is, however, quite a bit of turbo lag if you don't give it some welly when pulling away and the handbrake can take some getting used to. I've driven mine 1,000 miles across Europe and enjoyed every minute of it. It sat on the Autobahns quite comfortably and had no problems what so ever. I've only ...

Love for the Second Time...
Advantages: smooth ride, quiet, spacious, straightforwards Disadvantages: no rear windscreen wiper! Slightly disturbing onboard computer
...looked at one car, a Volkswagen Passat Highline 2.0, thought, that's far too big for me surely, thought, god but it's gorgeous, thought...actually...that's a good price...
...and I bought it. £6,500 of your Earth Pounds, previously a company car, 52,000 miles on the clock, pretty good nick, few chips of paint here and there, otherwise excellent. As per the last review, I'm not your girl for specs, bhp and so on. What I can manage is a short list ... ...fold down back seats, quite the array of compartments around the driving area, cup holders, lockable glove compartment
- heated leather seats. Joy. a) they serve my aching back fantastically well and b) I can't believe I have a reasonably priced car that has heated leather seats
- dashboard computer that appears somehow selfaware with the level of information it can impart to you
- 6 CD change, tape, radio
- Rear parking sensors
- Fully alarmed, ...
